Felix Sturm (28-2-1, 12KOs) barely held on to the WBA middleweight title when he fought to a draw with Randy Griffin (24-1-3, 12KOs) at the Gerry Weber Stadion in Halle, Germany. Griffin is no stranger to draw verdicts, having fought to a draw with James Obede Toney in 2005 and an eight-round draw with Yusaf Mack in 2004. [details]

No it wasn't a gift decision... Griffin hurt Sturm a little bit in the second round, and he hit him a few times in every round, but the most shots we're blocked... Sturm scored visually with every 2nd Jab he threw and uppercuts... Griffin was more active, but not that much active, that you could say Sturm didn't do enough in the round... so Sturm was up IMO about 3 or 4 roundsComment

Sturm was quick active in the begining with sharp punching, so was griffin with inacurate punches, but in the later rounds sturm fades and grifin stayed busy. So i think a draw was perfect.Comment

I don't know about that... I don't think that he would get destroyed... I think it would be very even, till the point Sturm getting ko'd... Sturm is way better at defence than Jermain Taylor... you have to put in comparison... I mean Pavlik is a very good tough fighter, but he is not the fastest... the reason he could hit Jermain Taylor was, because he's rangy of course, and JT has a bad defense IMO... Sturm has a good defense, and is faster than Pavlik... I mean Griffin speed wise wasn't in his level... the thing that bothers me, is his lack of power... because if you can't keep some1 away from you, than he catches up with you... that's the reason why I see, maybe a KO in the moment for Pavlik somewhere about the 9th round... but you shouldn't forget, that Storm has heart too, yes he was knocked out, but he came up after the first knockdown against Castillejo, where not every1 would have gotten up, and then he fought for 8 more rounds, and then he got caught again... so I think he has a solid chin... and if he improves his power, he could handle Pavlik... but at the moment I'll see Pavlik winning, but not in a destroying kind of way...Originally posted by demirturk View Post

I think Griffin was robbed personally. He wasn't as accurate but he was still effectively aggressive and completely controlled the ring. Even Sturm seemed to know he should have lost judging by his reaction after the match.Comment

i agree, the fight could go either way, that's why the judge scored some rounds 10-10, but people should stop saying roberry when the fight was close. And sturm didn't react like he thought he lost, he didn't agree with the drawOriginally posted by dalliance13 View PostComment
