Should the judging be sincerely bad ala Whitaker-Chavez, then I spose yes there is room for excuses. However otherwise, there isn't much wiggle room.

As my sig states I'm expecting Floyd to destroy Ricky and if he loses I'll just tip my hat to Ricky cause I like the kid but I just think Floyd is too much for him.

But if you ask Mexicans, they will say that Chavez really got a draw. So, the judging will always be a crutch.

Mayweather supporters (ME INCLUDED) have said that Floyd will "dominate" hatton.

Hatton fans have said that Ricky will maul and break up Floyd. And stop him.

So , presumably, the judging shouldn't come into play as much.

Technical decisions should not count either, I think an excuse is okay in the case of an accidental headbutt ending the fight.

Fighters make a gameplan for a 12 round fight, not a 5 round fight cut short by an accidental headbutt.

That is very fair. In that case, we treat it as a "no contest" and wait for the rematch.

I fully expect Mayweather to be close/behind in round 4/5. So an accidental headbutt would be bad.

Excuses the Hattonettes can't use if their man loses:

1) Floyd was just a runner. He hit and run.
2) The judges just gave it to Mayweather in his hometown
3) Ricky fought in Las Vegas. They should fight in Manchester.
4) They fought at 147. Ricky is not a welterweight.
5) The ref would not let Ricky fight his fight.
6) The punchstat numbers are all wrong.
7) Ricky hurt Floyd in the 4th round lol omg hahahaha
8) If Ricky didn't get cut or swollen...
9) Floyd was cheating with his elbow...
10) We didn't Floyd to start trading
11) The ref stopped it too soon. We want Smoger for the rematch.
12) The ring dictor should not have stopped it...

Excuses the Mayweatherites can't use if their man loses:

3) Floyd had a short training camp ...DWTS
4) Floyd underestimated Ricky
5) Ricky headbutted Floyd.
6) Floyd had too many distractions
7) The judges gave it to "the likeable" fighter...


Mayweather offered Ricky several fights over the past couple of years. Ricky has been fighting on TV. We know exactly who he is, what he does, and what to expect. Floyd said that Ricky is "the most overrated fighter of the past 25 years". Floyd said he is very confident.

Hatton has said that he and Graham have had Floyd on their radar for YEARS. They said they know exactly how to beat Floyd. Ricky said "there's no chance in hell " that Floyd beats him. All of Floyd's fights have been on TV and PPV. Ricky has attended several FMJ fights in person. We know exactly who Floyd is, what he does, and what to expect.

Both fighters are in their prime. Both have been active and fought this year. Both fighters are healthy. Both fighters are being paid well and have good management and promotion. Both fighters have clean personal lives free from major distractions.

This should be a short thread. NO EXCUSES FROM EITHER CAMP.... NONE!!

If you can think of any other excuses that the other camp might use, post 'em. But please don't turn this into another argument thread. There are plenty of those.
