Mike Tyson is easily the best known boxer, Evander Holyfield is more mainstream, way way more mainstream than Floyd.

People actually payed attention to boxing when those guys were in there respective primes and past it especially in Tyson's case because they gave reason to be interest.

And I dont mean Tyson's **** after prison. I mean his dominance as heavyweight at champion in the late 80's.

I would say Floyd is better known in America.
Whereas someone like Tyson or Holyfield or Lennox Lewis are globally recognised.

Squeal hates Floyd alot, and is very jealous of FMJ for whatever reason. So that colors all of his posts, and he has lost objectivity.
Wow. I didn't criticise Floyd, not one bit. My post was simply putting across the alternative view that Floyd Mayweather isn't quite the crossover star that this article's author suggests. I even said that it was unjustified that this was the case, but it is indicative of the lowly rank that boxing occupies in North American sports lexicon.

I think that Dios is getting to the point that he is so occupied with refuting attacks on Mayweather that he has started to refute attacks that never occurred.

Jesus Christ. You know a guy is a nuthugger when he has to resort to racist remarks just to put down a boxer whom he views as a threat to his idol.

Unbelievable. The lengths Dios would go to just to defend Floyd.

lol ok guys, Floyd mayweather is carried to a high payday by oscar(granted made the matchup as big as it could be but he had a limited fanbase by all accounts compared with oscar) and goes on some tv show and all of a sudden he is the "face of boxing"?

So Jerry Rice and Emmitt Smith are "the face of football" for being on DWTS?

I mean, yeah, they are the face of football.

Not because of DWTS, but they were chosen as football's representative when they were on the show.

And to people mentioning Holyfield as more mainstream, that is true.

So is George Foreman, but they are really old.

Floyd is the current P4P #1, which is the Lehman's guide to who is the best fighter in the sport... it's natural that he does gain some popularity because of it, right?
