Having second thoughts about Cotto/Mosley?

I disagree. Trinidad was B class because whenever he fought an A class guy he lost. Oscar, Wright, and Hopkins all beat him pretty easily. Even though the record book is a "W" for Tito against Oscar, I know better because I paid to watch the fight live. 8 rounds to 4, 7 to 5 at the very most.

Stylewise I initially thought: Cotto is going to get stopped.

But then I thought about a simple little number: 36, Mosley's age. And Shane does not fight "smart", meaning he fights in a way which does not suit a 36 years old

ok..........were winky and hopkins recognized fighter before the face tito because where i see it both got recognized as good fighters when they both beat trinidad so i don't believed trinidad is a b fighter.

Mosley's biggest flaw in this fight is his age. But I'm beginning to wonder if maybe age is not a factor for Mosley, like it's not for Hopkins. He hasn't been in any wars that I can recall, nothing that would advance his age overnight. You also have to remember how many people thought Hopkins was going to get exposed by Tarver and Wright.

Betting on youth is always a good choice in any fight but when you're talking fighters like Mosley or Hopkins, it's not the preferred method of logic IMO. Because time and time again people have bet against them waiting for "father time" to show up, only to have it backfire on them.

Aside from age, Mosley has every advantage over Cotto IMO except power. Cotto has never faced a guy as talented or fast as Mosley, with power in both hands. And if Shane rocks Miguel Cotto like guys like Corley and Torres did, he will jump all over him in a hurry to get him out of there. That's where the experience level comes into play.

This is a 50/50 fight if I've ever seen one. I could see Cotto wearing Mosley down over 7-8 rounds and scoring a KO/TKO late in the fight. I could also see Miguel coming out trying to apply pressure, getting rocked early and Mosley jumping all over him like a cheap suit scoring a TKO.

Wright was known to most for his fights with Mosley. Hopkins was known to most as the Middleweight kingpin.

But let's say your argument is correct and that nobody knew of Hopkins or Wright prior to the Trinidad victories......

I still think that was a matter of great promotions and an extensive PR campaign that built up the myth of Trinidad's power. Trinidad will always be a B class fighter with A class promotions.

That said I respectfully disagree with you on this, because I know you're Puerto Rican and Trinidad is something of a hero to you. I would jump to the defense of my hometown heros like Hopkins, Frazier and Taylor at the drop of a dime. So it's all good to just peacefully disagree.

I agree. Tito hasn't fought since Wright, before that was Mayorga in October 2004, and even before that was the bum he fought after Hopkins beat him back in 2002. Couple the inactivity and bad performances with Tito's apparent weight issue and advancing age and I don't see how anybody in their right mind would place money (or points) on Trinidad.

The skill level is definitely worlds apart I can agree with that. And if Mosley wins, you'll be one of the richest ****ers walking this site.
