I agree. But let's construct another alternate universe just for fun:

Miranda beats Taylor by stoppage while Jermain is ahead on the cards- much like Pavlik did. A rematch clause is used, just like with Pavlik-Taylor, and five months later they fight again.

While this is happening Pavlik is thrown a bone and fights a somewhat known, though green, John Duddy- and wins by KO. He's not middleweight champion, and he's not a superstar but he's seen as a threat. Let's say HBO gave him a break and this was a BAD card- just for argument's sake.

Edison Miranda is now middleweight champion of the world and has to rematch Jermain Taylor- like Pavlik's current position- this time Jermain Taylor wins a decision and grabs his prestige back; but a rubber match is signed on and the men decide to fight yet again to close out the year.

Pavlik is now on the radar, though just a blip, and in this universe HBO decides there is some profit in him and matches him against Allan Green- and they get another highlight reel KO end. His stock rises.

Miranda fight Jermain Taylor again, and in a crazy turn of events manages a late, 12th round stoppage (think Rahman-Maskaev II) to recapture his crown from Taylor. He's champion again and Jermain is old news.

Edison Miranda, resurrected Middleweight champion of the world decides to sign on for a nice payday against somewhat known, undefeated contender Kelly Pavlik on HBO championship boxing.

Pavlik handles Miranda as he did in the real world and now he looks like a beast - but Miranda knows he can't beat Kelly, so there is no rematch, and Pavlik goes on to reign for several years.

        Ooooooh. How about that one?

Oh, and it's an alternate universe. Let's not get too ****** about it not working out that way. IT COULD'VE HAPPENED- even if unlikely.

          I LIKE IT!!

But you have to wonder in that scenario if the Miranda Taylor rematch would have been held at catch weight also. In that case, if Kelly remained at Middle, Miranda and he may never have crossed paths, assuming Miranda found home at super-middle-ish for the rematch and rubber match etc.

lol, its all so interesting anyway. I love running over stuff like that.

True, I actually thought of that but, for argument's sake, Miranda-Taylor II was held at 160; though, in actuality it's quite possible they would have fought at a catch-weight like Pavlik-Taylor II.

kool. you mentioned Duddy: The funny thing is, we can come up with as many parallel universes as we want, Duddy gets destroyed by Pavlik in every single one. lol

The last thing I want to see is Taylor getting knocked out again. I'm nervous as hell thinking about it, and I'm sitting behind a keyboard.
