i think in the past, the WBA have not enforced a mandatory on "super" belt holders which is what the winner of julio-juan would be. they get about 18 months to fight the holder of the "regular" belt and will go along with mandatories required by the IBF / WBO / WBC

Are they gonna ask Nate Campbell to step aside again?

I thought it was Nate Campbell who got in trouble with the law?

And Campbell must have good management because he got back on top quickly after his lose to that fighter from Africa - Isac something.

This is Julio's first fight since gaining the belt, so I would imagine the IBF will require a mandatory next (that would be Nate Campbell). I don't know if King will be able to secure an optional defense from all three organizations just to allow Juan Diaz to unify with David. Even so, which would he have to defend against next? It's going to be tough for Juan to retain all three titles and still fight for the fourth.
Wow, i wasn't aware of all those mandatories. Does seem like someone will lose there belt unless they pay off some of these fighters to step back and allow another Diaz match up.

Who is Davids mandatory or does he still have time to defend his WBC belt against the winner of Diaz.

i think Juan is getting about 400k tonight, not too sure

I think he will go after the money fight assuming he wins. Giving up titles is an option

Well, Casamayor is the "interim" champion, whatever the **** that means, and Jose Armando Santa Cruz is ranked #1. Now, considering that both of them are fighting each other, I guess the winner would be considered the mandatory.

I still consider Casamayor the champ, tho, as he never lost the title in the ring. I don't know why the WBC never ordered a purse bid for the fight and just stripped Casita for merely discussing a fight with Freitas (nothing had been signed). The organization that Michael Katz would probably call the WBCorrupt really failed the fans.

I hope Casita is able to KO Santa Cruz, and then Diaz, in consecutive fights.

Oh, and I somewhat agree with Fero...if you agree to pay the steaming piles of monkey dung that are sanctioning bodies to use their titles as economic leverage, then you have to eat it when they sanction fights between guys with no top ten wins to be your mando.
They do award belts for so-called "lineal championships"--if that's the way you want it put. The Ring belts.

I agree that the awarding of these belts are often "coincidental", meaning, that such belts are awarded often when a fighter wins an alphabet title that traces its roots through history. But not always. The example that comes quickly to mind was Pacquiao's Featherweight belt. Pacquiao was not the champion of any alphabet organization so his possession of The Ring belt after beating Marco was not "coincidental". In effect, he was the "Lineal Champion" but not an alphabet champ.

I am not arguing in favor of those so-called "Lineal Championships". I am not making a case for The Ring belt. I am simply pointing out that there, in a good sense, exists what may be called a "Lineal Belt". Whether that's good or bad...

As for the ferocity's comments on sanctioning bodies and fees, I too am with him on that.

If he unifies the entire division he will become the NEW Ring Magazine champion and Cas can't do anything about it.

the Diaz-Diaz fight tonight ... is a 3 belter IBF, WBA, WBO all on the line

so the winner will have all of the above

and David Diaz has the WBC belt

but Casamayor is the Ring Magazine Lightweight Champion

and Nate Campbell is supposed to be mandatory for the Diaz-Diaz winner

wonder how it all will unfold.
My fault. I overlooked the WBO belt. Yes, it's three for tonight.

My question about the "Lineal Belt" actually was a rhetorical question, asked in relation to David's purse demand.

I apologize to BigPoppa... and to everyone. AS the young ones on this site would have put it, "My bad..."

It's not WBO's fault that I overlooked their belt. It's all mine. They have good champs-- Ponce De Leon comes quickly to mind-- and, they deserve the existence of their belts acknowledged to some degree.

Yes, I stand corrected, BigPoppa... My apologies. I forgot about the WBO belt. I apologize to WBO too for the oversight. They deserve better. Seriously. They have and have had champs worthy of the name, and a number who were out and out great ones. I have mentioned Ponce De Leon as a worthy champ and I need to mention that Marco used to hold the belt that Ponce now holds.
