Penalosa's no pushover, so a decisive win over him this time should put Daniel on the right track. I just don't think Gerry has much more in the tank at this point in time.
that is very true, Gerry is on his last legs, i would rather see him against arce or darchinyan, but gerry really really wants this fight with Daniel, and i also think gerry will still look better fighting deleon than his last fight with gonzales...

Personally, I think he has nothing to prove against Ponce and a match against Arce would be amazing. But hey, I can't critique the man if he wants to challenge a young Champion. I wish him all the best, in the rematch and in retirement. You'd be hard pressed to find a fighter as friendly and outgoing as Gerry Penalosa.

point taken but what is odd, i still think gerry looked a lot better against de leon in a fight which gerry lost, than his fight with gonzales which he won by ko ...

the only margarito fight i have watched is the clottey fight... and he got his ass whooped... so no commet on the williams fight...

thing is, if mayweather's shoulder roll gets credit as great defense, gerry's blocking should be too... judges sometimes forget the concept of blocking... when someone throws a punch and it sounds good even though it's blocked, it's a score...

I think the reason Floyd always gets it for the shoulde roll is because A.) It's more eye catching and makes you look worse than a typical blocked punch does. and B.) All the judge who score fights are like 50+ and have terrible eyesight, therefore they can't tell when a punch lands or not. They only see it thrown and then they go "ooo".

Penalosa just wants the money. As colourful a fighter Arce is/was, de Leon is now the bigger draw.

I was hoping Gerry would start fighting guys his own size, like Martin Castillo, Arce or Darchinyan (who's reportedly having trouble making the 112-lb. weight), they'd be more entertaining and competitive fights imo...but, for lesser $$.

He better protect himself, not get seriously hurt, give a good account of himself just like in the 1st fight..and collect his retirement cheque.

Bring it on... but i smells a very boring fight that is because PDL will run again. If PDL will fight like a true mexican warrior GERRY has a good chance of winning. But I am still hoping that PDL will fight this time for the benefits of the fans, but in other side there could be a possibility for PDL to go toe to toe to redeem himself if he does such game plan and won over Gerry I will be one of his fan.

It doesnt matter if this fight happen sooner than expected. Whats important is we have an unbiased and knowledgeable judges who can score fairly.

The first bout had horrible scoring.
