Trust me man, I see what you're saying. I know how it works. I'll even reason it out with Pac fans, but what really gets me is when the nuthuggers argue about stuff that has nothing to do with the actual fights and they just use Pac as an excuse to spew out ignorance relentlessly. I mean to say that JMM should settle for whatever they wanna give him because Pac is gonna move on and leave him fighting for peanuts is whack. Besides the fact that JMM is a great boxer, Pac fans act like Manny is the only reason anybody even watches boxing. Given, Pac is a very exciting fighter and he gives the average person a fight to watch, but when you're a fan of the sport and have been following it for a long time you understand the traditions and respect that accompany the fights. You understand why that green belt is so coveted (even though sanctioning bodies have become a joke). And that's what I'm referring to, Pac fans that are boxing fans all of a sudden and know nothing about boxing except everything Pac does, from running up a mountain to him having a cold to his mother getting sick. He's a hell of a fighter but its different being a boxing fan and a fan of Manny sometimes as I've learned on these forums. I love boxing and I dislike how some people dismiss fighters as "*******" or they talk trash about someone for trying to make a living fighting. I give mad respect to anybody that willingly puts himself in the way of danger to entertain me.

like i said, it's just understanding the business... picture it this way, do people who look forward to seeing marquez outbox Pacquiao outnumber those who look forward to see PAC KO JMM? i think the answer is no. Pac still generates more money in this fight because he has a bigger fan base compared to JMM. So it just follows that the bigger draw takes the bigger purse. I hope we agree on that. That's a valid point but I wasn't talking about the actual logistics. Of course we pay the fighters when we buy the fight and everybody is entitled to their opinion but you don't personally dish out 1.5 million dollars or whatever to watch these guys fight. If you actually did that then you'd have a right to think about how much each guy deserves. However if you're a fan of boxing and two fighters each get paid $2million to fight then why should you care as long as you only have to pay the 50 bucks to watch it? That's what I was referring to, all the people who act like little girls complaining that he's asking for too much money and he doesn't deserve it. I just know that Im gonna support and pitch in my $50 to cover JMM's $2 million whenever the time comes to watch the fight. That's all I care about and I'm not bitching about who gets paid what. I wanna see the champ take on the challenger and whatever money they both make is none of my business.
but i see your point. let's just enjoy the fight when it happens.Comment

point taken... every fighter has their own share of nuthuggers... it just so happens that you see PAC nuthuggers more often... that's BS tradition... you have to live with itTrust me man, I see what you're saying. Of course, I'm glad you see things that way. Put it this way, I wouldn't mind it at all if JMM got 10 million and Pac got 100 million. I only have to pay $50 to watch it and that's all I care about. I hope they both make a lot of money so they don't have to keep fighting forever like Chavez. It's just the fight I care about and if someone wants to ask for $2M, then the other guy who has a lot more fans better as for $3M. That's all.like i said, it's just understanding the business... picture it this way, do people who look forward to seeing marquez outbox Pacquiao outnumber those who look forward to see PAC KO JMM? i think the answer is no. No, doesn't work that way. Marquez hasn't proven his marketability and is never a draw. That's moot and academic. As a matter of fact, GBP had to postpone JMM-Juarez fight to November because nobody was buying the tickets.I can see you are a huge pacman fan and not knowing what is going on with Marquez.
Marquez has a lot of fan support. Just see his fights and you'll see a lot of people screeming for Marquez. And yelling his name in the fight.
Marquez defently deserves the 2 milliion. Just like Pacquiao felt he deserved more money to fight Morales for a 3rd time or else he wasn't going to fight. If Pacquiao is so marketable then why all the bull**** that they can't pay Marquez the 2 million he wants?
I can point to Delahoya, the golden boy would pay his opponets ridiculous money more then they had ever earned. Why because they deserved it, because he could pay them that kind of money.
So if Pacquiao doesn't bring in 2 million for Marquez then admit it and say Pacquiao fame and draw is all bull**** and he hardly sells and there for they can't pay Marquez the money he deserves.
Pacquiao, Morales and JMM proved they could sell tickets and PPV's, that's why both TR and GBP were willing to pay them the money they deserved. Prizefighting is all about making money and money goes to the fighter who can bring it in.Last edited by JaNnO; 10-12-2007, 05:26 PM.Comment

In pac's case. Titles mean nothing. He has said so himself. He will fight the man and not the title. You are wrong dude, titles DO mean something. A lot of fights get made using the title as leverage. Just because you're a Pacquiao fan it doesn't mean he's above these basic laws. I know some of you Pac fans would wanna see Pac move past fighting humans altogether and fight beasts or dragons cuz your head is so far up your ass that you think he can do no wrong and he can do whatever he wants and anybody who fights him is a *****. All I gotta say is you're not the one paying the fighters so STFU, boxers deserve every penny they get, overpriced or not. They actually have the balls to step up and fight great fights not just sit there and admire boxers from their computer screens. JMM deserves all of the $2M and I hope he gets it to school Pacquiao one more time.
He's just as pleased winning without belts. So if ****** JMM thinks he has some sort of leverage against Pac, well... he can dream on.
Simple fact.
Pac doesn't need JMM to get his record paydays. There's the 3 Diaz at lightweight, Soto, Valero, Guzman at 130.
What does JMM have? Err... simple plain and common sense. Nothing.
So if you think titles will come into the scenario. You can dream on. It's free.Comment

You're talking of logistics and yet you don't consider the limits or lack of leverage power of JMM in negotiations with a possible Pac fight. Yeah...That's a valid point but I wasn't talking about the actual logistics. I suggest rewind.
Pac has stated that belts mean nothing to him. As of right now he has so many opponents lined up in front of him.
If JMM is stubborn, which he might well be. Mark my words. Pac will leave him in the dust. He certainly has no obligation to JMM. Quite the opposite, JMM will have to wait in line for him if he keeps overpricing himself.Comment

Pacquiao should fight the Soto vs Guzman winner... I love JMM but he isnt the same and I wanna see some young fighters fight not a young one and an Old one.
Also as far as what JMM is due.. He is due a lot... he sure as hell was due a lot back when he was denied the first rematch and its obvious Pac never wanted to rematch back then so to say he is ducking Pac is downright absurd.
IF ANYTHING... Pac was the one that ducked marquez for so many years. Yeah yeah I know people are gonna say he was asking too much blah blah blah and He ducked Pacquiao.
Did he?
The fight was on Regular HBO,
The Arena was packed with JMM fans
He was just as responsible for making the fight exciting as PAC if anything even more. The Solis, Fahsan, and Barrera 2 weren't really exciting.
In Contrast most of JMM's fights were pretty damn good after that.
The rematch was basically sold already, everyone wanted to see it.
Pacquiao never really called JMM out after the first fight.Comment

Easy to say those but will not hold water. Firstly, it was Pac who immediately asked for a rematch right after the fight and JMM and didn't utter any word right after. He had been silent for far too long, until he or his management made a fool of themselves and chose a path of least resistance by fighting and losing to the unheralded Chris John of Indonesia.Pacquiao should fight the Soto vs Guzman winner... I love JMM but he isnt the same and I wanna see some young fighters fight not a young one and an Old one.

Secondly, everone can claim it was mostly JMM fans who attended the fight but there ain't no records to support that. He can never draw fight fans into the arena and has no track record to speak of his so-called "marketability". All he had before was his trinkets but as I said it doesn't work that way unless you could fill seats in the arena and people buys your PPV. On the other hand, TR and GBP fighting to get the services of the Pacman speaks loudly of his fan-drawing ability and marketability. Moreover, do you think the media will call him the #1 P4P "the most exciting fighter" for nothing? There you go.Comment
