Came back and avenged his 2 losses with ease.

Had a killer uppercut, and was a very smart fighter who had good movement and had very good body punches.

6'5 and 250 odd pounds, hardly any heavyweight would stand up to him.
I think he is one of the best heavyweights. But calling him the best heavyweight of all time would not be justifiable. There are better heavyweights than him I think.

His rematch against McCall was easy because the Atomic Bull wasn't really in the best shape for the fight. If you watched it then you definitely saw that he was pitiful. I mean McCall was crying while he was in the ring against Lewis because he had a lot of problems. He should not have fought a rematch against Lewis in the state he was in. If he fought Lewis in the same shape as he was in the first match, I don't think Lewis would have had an easy time.

No he's not. He's the best HW since Larry Holmes though (Tyson KO'ing tomato cans wasn't that impressive IMO) and doesn't get the respect and plaudits he deserves. But that will come in time.

Lewis is definitely one of the greatest heavyweights in history, that is a fact.

To compare him against other greats is unfair on him and them because he should be judged against the fighters of his era and lets be honest he was the best of his era. Some will say McCall this and Rahman that but we all know that Lewis lost those fights more through complacency than ability, plus he avenged them, end of story.

Others will say that he never fought Bowe but Bowe relinquished his belt rather than fight him as mandatory challenger, others will say that Tyson and Holyfield where past their best, OK that may be true but they also negate to mention that they are all a similar age.
Will they say the same thing if Calzaghe loses to Kessler as JC is 35 and Kessler is 28? I wont.

He fought the best around and beat them all.

Also can you honestly see fighters like Joe Louis, Jack Dempsey and Rocky Marciano who weighed 40 - 60lbs less than Lewis dominating him???
A good big un will always beat a good little un.

Strength wise, Foreman maybe. Skill wise Ali maybe.

Like I said its about era's.

Exactly, we talk on here about certain fighters ducking people, who did Lewis duck?

The only man not on there is Bowe and he ducked Lewis.

no such thing as greatest heavyweight of all time. it's just impossible to compare someone from the 40's against a modern day fighter.

you can argue who was the best champ though, or who achieved the most.

                best champ = Louis
                most achieved = Ali

Lewis just has to go down as one of the best fighters, maybe thee best of his era.

                  He's off my radar screen...

He doesn't even make my top ten...

                  In no particular order:
                  • Tyson
                  • Ali
                  • Foreman
                  • Marciano
                  • Louis
                  • Holmes
                  • Frazier
                  • Johnson
                  • Dempsey
                  • Liston
However, he is the 2nd. biggest (Primo Carnera being #1).
