  • HONEST thoughts on PAC vs MAB II?

Hey guys I was watching the WILL TO WIN: PAC VS MAB II RINGSIDE at the Mandalay Bay Saturday night. So as always I saw things that you guys didnt see and you saw things I didnt see. So I wanted to know what was everyones honest opinion on the fight?

To be honest I saw PAC matured as a more complete fighting by boxing and outboxing MAB. It seemed almost like PAC was going for a decision just to say he could also win by a UD verses having to over power house his opponents to win?

However I noticed alot of people, especially those of you who bought the PPV instead criticizing PAC saying he was lazy, gased out, weak, fatigued etc. I really did not see that at all. I saw a more mature disciplined fighter that night that was sticking to a new game plan and executed it effectively.
I know to the ignorant viewer they may think it was not as impressive as Pac's past explosive KO/TKO wins, but I was actually a bit more impressed that he proved he could again outbox one of the best boxers of his time convincingly and wisely. Part of me wanted it to go the distance just cause supposedly Pac has never won a decision on US soil as one fellow ringside fellow told me. Also it in a way reinstates faith in Pac as a legit complete package and not just a one sided dimensional powerhouse.

On Pac's defense alone i was impressed. When he made MAB miss he made MAB miss him by a mile.

I am interested in what you guys who saw the fight at home or even if you were at the mandalay bay as well thought HONESTLY.

I read an interview of Roach implying Pac was really just going for the decision... Pac was happy with his perfomance which usually ends in KO.. Tells you that a decision was what he was going for to show his development..
Roach said he had to tell Pac to stop messin around and told him to step it up a notch and was being to friendly with Barrera... It is well known that Pacquiao has carried some fights. He messed with Larios and let the fight go to the judges and Solis, whom he disposed of after he got cut. I think its because he got paid for commercials in the P.I. between rounds...People saying that it wasnt like the "real Pac" that fought Barrera, it was Pac with something to proove.

I saw it exactly like you saw it. Right before the fight I called 4 round KO. Then a friend of mine said i want to see it go longer. I want to see a good fight. I then agreed with him. And wanted to see it go the distance. After the first couple rounds I saw that he actually did get better. He shocked me. I was very impressed and kept saying after each round ... Damn he really got better. He was boxing. He was very disciplined. He was controlled. He was slipping. Your right. He had something to prove and he proved it to me. Im excited to see his next fight. It was pretty funny that Roach kept saying stop fooling around. Stop playing around in there.

I was diappointed that Barrera wasn't willing to let his hands go more often (and I don't mean war with Pac, I mean throwing punches from different angles to change the course of the fight). On the whole I was just happy not to see Marco get hurt, and see him achieve a moral victory for himself by surviving Pacquiao for 12 rounds without getting KO'd, as so many of the critics were saying.

Still, I think if he would've thrown a bit more he could've won a few more rounds and not taken as much **** about it as he already has.

interesting responses so far guys thanks!

yeah PAC was def friendly this time around with MAB. im not sure if the PPV showed it, but they even walked out of the ring together holding hand and hand NO JOKE LOL!

i mean they did it more so in the manner of: as we are both the champs but its gotta be a first for two fighters of their level and prestige to be holding hands as they walked out of the ring lol.

I wasn't impressed at all with the fight.I tuned in hoping for a war. What I got was a bore.

I can understand why some people may have appreciated it because of the boxing skills on show but I was hoping for a lot more.Especially in MAB's last fight.

I was expecting a war also. For the purist, it wasn' the best execution of the art of boxing but it was a vast improvement from the Pac we've all gotten used to. If someone asked me who would win on pure boxing skills alone between Pac and MAB, I'd have picked MAB easily. But that night proved me wrong.

Roach may have told Pac that as he gets older, he'll lose his advantage in speed and may end up like RJJ. Without the proper fundementals that Hopkins and Mayweather have, he'll be on a losing streak once his speed is gone. Roach may have given him a new path to outbox rather than going for broke every round.

It will be interesting to see how Pac fares against the now puncher boxer JMM.

I have to say that I was a bit disappointed by the fight because I was expecting a lot more action. The action did pick up in the last two rounds but waiting for a knockdown or knockout that never came can be quite frustrating. That was my fault I guess for expecting too much. I wanted Pacquiao to win by KO because that would be the most impressive way to win. I'm OK with UD win because it was a clear win for Manny but it lacked the drama of his other fights. I guess Manny could have gone for the KO but he would have paid a heavier price for it so he was smart by doing enough to win. Maybe he was a bit too friendly with Barrera and didn't want to do too much damage. Anyway, it's a good way of preserving himself for more explosive fights in the future.

I thought Manny didn't have that extra gear he usually does. I thought he'd run down MAB and put him out by the 8th. A little disappointing on the fight itself. Still paid for the the fight in HD and the booze by betting some re re's thinking MAB had a chance to win. I came out ahead actually. The fight itself was, meh. I can't believe the esse's at work still are throwing bets against Manny though. The past couple of years, I have taken a LOT of money from these dudes. I almost feel bad... But not really
