Andy Lee - Next big thing at MW, hotter prospect than Berto?

Berto impressed the hell out of me against estrada, esp. after his lackluster showing against Rivera, but Andy Lee - this guy is a beast. Steward wants to get him a title shot next year - i dont know about that, but give him two years and i dont see why not. Long Hearns-esque arms with similar power, southpaw, and he's more than willing to go to the body when the fight dictates it, which I think is impressive for a young guy. Most young guys just want to headhunt (he can do that, too. put carl daniles to sleep standing up).

Here is his last fight, a week ago in chicago. It's not long. Cant wait to see what he does when he gets in there against some bigger names.

Looking forward to the rise of both men....Berto has recently stepped up his comp and Lee is yet to do so.....So I'd say Berto is a bit "hotter" so to speak legitemitely but both should have very bright futures.

Yeah, I guess with some of the governing bodies considering making berto a mandatory he is more of a contender than a prospect. just hope it isnt happening too fast.

almost happened to cintron, as well. promoters are too quick to throw guys into deep water for a quick payday anymore.

He fights like a left-handed Wlad. But with better handspeed and balance.

As far as Berto, he's farther along. At the right time I look forward to Andly Lee giving Pavlik the business. It's also hard to imagine that Taylor ever got the better of Lee in sparring.

Lee is overrated as of rate now. He's blowing out absolute tomato cans. Im not saying he's not a FANTASTIC prospect, but you cant just get on prospects back like this until they reach their first test.

By the time Lee matures, he'll be a supermiddlweight. A fight between him and Pavlik at 168, would probably be a boring technial match IMO, but it would be one of those boring fights where there so awsome drama where both guys would likely get hurt.

I think BERTO is the much "hotter" prospect cause he's an all action fighter. But Lee might be the better prospect.

We'll no for sure this time next year

Andy Lee is basically Emanuel Stewards pet project. His attempt to prove to the world that he can build a great fighter from scratch. The only problem is he really cant.

Emanuel Steward specializes in taking tall, fundamentally sound, fighters and turning them wrecking machines.

Emanuel Steward also tends to ruin fighters through excessive gym wars. I have no doubt in my mind that Andy Lee will have a very short career due to the amount and type of sparing Steward involves him in.

I attribute Tommy Hearns current condition directly to Emanuel Stewards method of training fighters.

Throwing fighters into gym wars with fighters like Kermit Cintron and Jermaine Taylor is not how you promote longevity.

I think Andy Lee will make a flash in the proverbial pan, but he wont last long. He has already engaged in the kinds of wars inside the gym that led Diego Corrales to be a shell of his former self at only 29 years of age.
