Yeah Motofan, whatever. I'm really going to miss the lovely zoom In's of
Larry's ugly face, as he slowly drawls out his boring monologue about some
crap that has the slightest connection with the events that had just
transpired in the ring!!!

1. Most of the time, during the fights, he is silent, and only
pipes up when he thinks he has some amazing insight to offer.
The insight is usually lame.

2. He is the only sports broadcaster I can recall, that has
ever bad mouthed his sport repeatedly, and bad mouthed the
event which he was viewing at that time!

3. He talks too damn slow!

4. He is a rude, crabby old man who's far too cynical
to have ever been allowed to broadcast for so long!

5. He is as racist as Jim Grey; shown by the way he has talked
to and treated Cory Spinks, Bernard Hopkins and Mike Tyson.

6. He thinks he knows it all, and since he doesn't, that makes him
all the more irritating.

7. He often forgets fighters names, and throws in weird and
inappropriate stories about some mess that happened 50 years
ago.

8. And the final thing that makes him so horrible is his
longevity. If I was ever that rude, negative and surly at work,
I would have been canned long ago. The fact that he kept
his job after being so blatantly rude to someone as powerful
as Frank Warren is annoying beyond belief. Let that have been
an African American doing that to Frank, and he would have been
canned faster than you can say "cheese whiz"! But oh no, not Larry,
he got to keep his job!

Meh. Larry Merchant is like Bill Walton to me. If you sit back, drink a couple of brews, smoke a L, you can't get mad. Just sit back, and laugh at the nonsense that comes out of their mouths. I couldn't imagine HBO without old drunk ass Larry Merchant.

ive got a question for ya who is more negative Larry Merchant or Jim Watt off Sky Sports ,i have never seen a broadcaster be so negative and contradict himself more during a fight ,the action contradict's what he saying originally so he change's his opinion too suit the action ,thus looking like knob

Merchant is pretty bad, and I am ready for Kellerman to take his place (say what you want about the guy, he knows his stuff and is passionate about the sport). Merchant talks way too slowly and with too many pauses and he tries to make metaphors or jokes that don't work 95% of the time. That said, he does make the occasional insight, I like the balls he shows in his interviews, and I really like that he criticizes the matches as they happen. Lampley does this too, as does Tessitore and, well, any good boxing announcer. This is one of the reasons I love boxing believe it or not. I hate when I watch a sloppy or incompetent NFL or NBA game and the announcers still try to hype it up when it should be clear to every one watching that it's ****. But if they did that people might change the channel, so they'd rather blow smoke up our asses.
