What happened to Sam Peter's Punching Power ?

People underestimate McCline's chin. He was stopped ONCE, by Klitschko and that mostly due to fatigue

He was always crude and swinging and his power was always overrated(for example, if Wlad hit Toney with as many good shots as Peter he would have knocked him out). IN other words, Peter is heavy handed and his swinging punches look cool and powerful but boxing ain't no martial arts movie or a video game --- the most powerful punches in boxing are fast and compact.

That's why his power is lacking, he is strong but his offense is limited due to technical flaws.

McCline has a good chin. Peter came back from adversity and won by throwing stiff jabs to the body and head. Nothing wrong with his performance in the least. Fighters get caught, fighters get hurt. It's how they respond to that adversity that makes them a champion.

When Peter was coming up he looked like he had Shavers like power, he nearly decapitated Jeremy Williams with a left hook. I expected Peter to KO/TKO DeCline in the mid rounds and he never even came close to stopping DeCline. I really think Peter's first fight with WLAD destroyed Peter, his chin was definately softened up by WLAD and he will be knocked out cold by WLAD in the rematch or he will get KTFO by the Iron chinned Vitali. The other belt holders Chagaev and Ibragimov would also destroy Peter.

The better title for this thread would be "what happened to Peter's chin". He was known as having the best chin in the heavyweight division but now I'm not so sure although as long as you get up it doesn't really matter.

As far as Vitali having a Iron Chin. VItali got knocked out by Oleg Maskaev in the amateurs so that should tell you right there. He can get rocked by suprise the same as Peter got rocked vs McCline.

The story of Vitaly getting ko'd in amatuers by Maskaev is shady to say the least. There have been quite a lot of people supporting Vitaly's side of a story where his corner threw in a towel after vitaly started using his right(injured) hand against Oleg.
And Maskaev is that kind of a bull****er.

Peter got exposed last night. McCline showed that Peter can be taken out. Peter came back because McCline has no stamina and is not a very good boxer, but Peter is not a very good boxer either. Just stands there and dares you to go toe to toe. Peter lost alot of esteem last night. Disappointment ahead for Peter, I think.

true to an extent but mccline isnt exactly a finisher by any means. if he was a better puncher/finisher peter would have had major problems

The commentators larry and jim always make references on how Vitali never got knocked down in amateurs nor professional level.
