Just checked Floyd's record, 10 title fights, only 5 defenses, and none since he left lightweight. Hatton is Floyd's first defence above 135 lbs.

I'm not criticising, I'm just pointing out why the original post couldn't have been about Floyd.

Well you were wrong then, since obviously your reasoning would apply to Floyd, no? He defended the IBF belt against Baldy btw, no one wanted to fight him at 140, and he only went to 154 to fight Oscar.

I thought he vacated the IBF to fight Baldy. According to Boxrec it was for the IBO and WBC. I have the fight saved but I never bother listening to the introductions unless it is live. He was never into any other belts than the WBC was he?

In any case I was sort of defending Floyd here. The topic seems to be aimed more at the likes of Calzaghe, Valuev, Arce, anyone else who wins a belt then fights a bum of the month to control the title.

Sorry about that, you're right. That was a bad assumption on my part.. Though he still went directly North to fight DLH after winning the WBC at 147.

Naw, you're correct. I just noticed that myself now; he hasn't made a title defense since light weight and virtually flew by a few divisions north. That actually is a compliment. I have no idea honestly who the thread is aimed at, but sweet pea has a point..
