    Fans, fans, fans

Boxing is a sport for the fans. Fans drive the live and pay per view gates. And fans want their champs to face the best out there. Other sports ARE different, but each year the cream rises to the top and the best teams face each other for the right to be called champion.

Imagine if Team sports were like boxing and the champ wasn't crowned every year and instead once a Superbowl title was won, the Colts only opted to play against the Browns.

Professional Team sports is a business too. But it does work out where the best does have to face the best or at least the team who my have knocked off the best.

Sitting on a title and ONLY playing out the risk/reward everytime out is not healthy for the sport.

    I repeat:
It is not healthy for the sport.

A bracket system would be sick for boxing... Sure belts have manadotories but for the most part its bs.

It is the boxer's job to win, the promotional company's job to pay the fighter, and the fan's job to pay for tickets and ppv. If the boxer is boring and the companies still pay him, then it must obviously be because the fans are still buying tickets and ppv of this supposedly boring fighter. Therefore, none of this matters whatsoever unless the said entertainer has fallen off due to a decline in sales which is reflective of the lack of drama he produces. In this case, if the said fighter is making 15 million for one event, plus residuals, and if this is addressed at such a fighter, then you obviously have no point, now do you?.

A seeding system similar to Tennis would work out OK. The belt rankings are too corrupt. The WBO's number one contender for their Jr Welterweight title is Willy Blain.

No, he dosen't have a point. Matter of fact if you translate his whole bull**** post to its simplest terms, it basically goes like this:

"Blah, Blah, Blah... I hate Mayweather"

Until somebody beats him, Mayweather can talk all the **** he wants. I think he has earned that right. All this man does is train like a maniac, lace them up and win. Could he do it with a little more humility? Maybe. But until somebody beats him, which Hatton isn't going to, appreciate the talent. Greatness dosen't always the take the form of a classy, aww shucks type of guy. But if you can't see that Mayweather is a great fighter, you have blinders on, or just hate to hate.

A bit sensitive aren't we? I didn't read Mayweather in this whatsoever. I think that Taylor is a more appropriate comparison. Mayweather has never sat on a belt and fought weak contenders. He always moves up!

Just checked Floyd's record, 10 title fights, only 5 defenses, and none since he left lightweight. Hatton is Floyd's first defence above 135 lbs.

I'm not criticising, I'm just pointing out why the original post couldn't have been about Floyd.
