    Scoring in the Pavlik fight....

I searched the forum but I didn't see a thread on this.

Did anyone else think the "Fix" was in?

The judges had the bout 59-54, 59-54, and 58-55 or something like this. I re-watched the fight several times. Taylor did NOT win round 1 or round 3. I think I could maybe give him 2 rounds out of round 4,5,6.

Even Taylor was surprised at the scoring, especially because Emanual was telling him he was losing, which I think even with the knockdown in round 2 he was down going into round 7. I agree with Ledermans score card the most, and compubox numbers tend to back it up.

Taylor was more accurate, but Kelly was landing more shots total in most round (except round 2) and he was pushing the action, controlling the ring, backing Taylor into the ropes.

    I had it 10-9, 8-10, 10-9, 10-9, 9-10, 10-9. making it 58-56 going into the 7th for Pavlik.

And even though at the end compubox numbers showed that overall they landed almost the same amount of punches, I watched that fight several times, a lot of Taylors punches were wide, being picked off, or didn't really get thru, Pavlik had his hands up most of the time. On the other side, Jermaine rarely keeps his hands up and it showed because when Pavlik threw a jab you could see it hit Taylor, and the blows Pavlik was landing were definitely more clean and effective.

Were the Judges smoking? What do you guys think? That score really shocked me...

Wow, someone needs to get their eyes checked. Anyone really agree with that?

Do all these guys really want Taylor to win that badly? You can see at the end of the fight Kelly took some damage, but his face was not swollen like Taylors was.

Seriously, 6-0? Just look at the punch stats, if you saw those numbers you would think it would be scored evenly.

I had taylor ahead by only one point. That six to one **** was crazy. I don't know what fight Rafael was watching.

Pavlik was out-jabbing Taylor easy, especially in the last few rounds he was piling the points on. I think people are now just starting to find out that Pavlik's power may not look effective, but it has a deceptiveness about it that must be taken into account from now when he lands cleanly. I think Taylor's great chin and acting also helped him in swaying the judges as he played the 'not being hurt' role quite well.

But Pavlik's look as a tall, skinny white kid who is all sinewy bone did not help him. But I think from now on people will judge his activity better now that he has proved himself.

i really depend on how you are scoring the fight..

                  an example..

pavlik connects with 25 shots, taylor only 20..

pavlik misses 50, taylor missed 25..

now what people tend to forget, that boxing is equally a sport, where the defensive plays a big role..

fans looks at, pavlik going forward, pavlik trowing a serious number of punches, and in some rounds out landing taylor by a fraction.. to the fan the agressor, the man throwing punches, seems like the man in control, but that wasnt the case for me..

i had taylor up by 2, going into round 7

After watching it again Rafael was way out of line. It's just not possible you can score six rounds for Taylor. I'll be honest though, watching it live I had the impresson Taylor was ahead on points. Then the second viewing I had it 4-2 for Pavlik. He parrys a lot of punches, and that's hard to catch live sometimes when your caught up in the excitement.
