Did seeing taylor k.o. make any white people sad????

I have a buddy who was saddened by Taylor's fall. He says he was hoping that Taylor, who held all the belts there was to carry at Middleweight, should have proven that he was a worthy champ of the type that the belts--put together-- represented: dominance at this weight class.He was saying that he was hoping that Taylor, undisputed and undefeated champion that he was, should have had resounding victories against HOF-type opponents before his exit from the top. (Not that it wasn't Taylor's fault at all that he didn't. In a very large part, he only has himself to blame).

I kinda share his feelings.

Yes. I punched my couch, because Taylor is a good guy, who has never gotten his due for his run, and now he never will, because he just lost. He might get props for **** he does after now, but I don't think he will ever get the credit he deserved for beating Hopkins twice.

While I dont particularly disagree, it was youth that beat hopkins and not superior boxing. Hopkins is the better fighter but Taylor edged him out with his energy level.

If that's the case then everything is a race war. And if that's the case what happens to interracial kids and people who don't clearly fall into the white-black-yellow-brown divide? Is Derek Jeter white or black? How about Tony Parker? Is Jason Kidd's excellence because of his black athletic skills or white brains? And don't get started on groups such as Hispanics and Arabs. Both are a conglomeration of races.

In case it matters I'm white and became a Taylor fan. I was -- and still am a Hopkins fan -- but what boxing fan is not impressed with Taylor's skills? Although, as a fan you could be ... um ... not enthusiastic about his style.

No matter how much I dislike his conduct IN the ring, he seems like a great guy in everyday life. He's always respectful. And say what you will, but he has class.

The part where I felt the worse was when he was like 'I can't believe I lost the championship...'

Well you will be shocked. IMO he will be back on the rise to the top and this lose was just a wake up call. I think he needed this experience to better himself.

Yeah, I was definatly feeling for him.. he does seem like a good guy. But at the same time, it was a great fight. Every fighter deserves to win and Pavlik deserved it as much as anyone.. but I hear you.

Had Taylor come out and fought like he had been fighting... I wouldn't have felt bad at all. But he came out the gate firing, showed tremendous heart, and had the fight entirely within his grasp only to have it somehow slip through his fingers. How could you not feel bad? He did everything the public wanted him to and he still lost brutally.

Yeah, I felt bad for him too. Unlike what I feel for the Mets right now ;-(

He's a class act and an excellent boxer, just not exciting enough to become a fan favorite.
