Pavlik could be champion in any era sooner or later. He is so big and tall for his weight and his power is frightening.

Pavlik is a good fighter but i don't think he beats a prime RJJ, Hopkins or Toney but he beats Joppy & Tito.

You guys dissing Tito and Joppy are idiots. Joppy just fought a dumb fight against Tito trying to go toe to toe with him because he thought he wasnt a real MW. After that fight Joppy was pretty shot but before then Joppy was a very good fighter and a slick boxer. He wouldve gave Pavlik hell and if you dont think so then you dont know boxing.

Tito also was a beast until Hopkins ruined him. Sure he looks like crap now but you cant overlook the fact that the guy retires for years at a time and then comes back and immediatly fights the best. I think when you havent seen a guy in his prime in so long that you forget what he looks like and Tito was a straight beast. No doubt he wasnt a real MW but he still had a huge punch and just because maybe the best MW of all time dominated him doesnt mean that Pavlik would. I think going toe to toe a prime Tito would KO Pavlik. You guys are trying to act like Taylor didnt almost just stop him. If Smoger wasnt the ref then all of this **** would be moot right now and we would be talking about Pavlik being another great white Hype. Dont think that Tito couldnt hurt Pavlik. You guys need to stop forgetting how great a prime Tito was. Sure, boxers & movers would give him trouble but Pavlik isnt that.

Of course Kelly Pavlik would be average, maybe even below average in any other era. Pavlik brings nothing to the table, he is a weak chinned pillow puncher with No Heart. So what if he KTFO Taylor. Who has Taylor ever beat, and don't say Hopkins and Winky because they are tomato cans. Kelly Pavlik is the Evil White Devil and he must be killed.

It's too early to tell. Anybody who says otherwise is blind. He's had 2 big fights against good opposition... that's it. My personal opinion is that He's a B+ level fighter in a time where it's easy to look more impressive than you are. Being a B+ doesn't make you a bad fighter; but he's no great, great fighter.... not yet at least. In time if he gets some more competition and continues to win convincingly then I will change my tune.

JT, even w/ the loss to Pavlik still has the much better record; regardless of how close some of the decisions have been.

I agree with you about Trinidad of 2000/2001, but Kelly Pavlik would have William Joppy playing survival the whole fight if he didn't stop him. Joppy made a career of beating average fighters. He was a capable fighter but he lost, badly, to every serious fighter he faced. Pavlik walks him down and blasts him out with the jab/right. It really is that simple. Joppy has nothing to get Pavlik's respect.

Trinidad could have hurt Pavlik though.

Taylor is different. Taylor is just a weird guy in any era. Again, I think he has the best or top 3 best combination of speed & power in all of boxing and thats what he gets by on because he has nothing else at all. I think he has a very low boxing IQ and his coordination is lower the any other elite boxer in the sport. Thats probally why you will nearly always see him being capable of pretty much beating everyone and losing to everyone

Very true. His chin was always questionable to me but his talent could not be questioned. His jab, speed, accuracy was all well above what is needed to be a champion. He just didn't have the mental capacity for it. He folds under pressure. You could see it in the first Hopkins fight and anytime he's been in trouble since. You put Floyd's mind inside of JT and you've got the greatest middleweight champion of all time (sans chin).
