Taylor went in there focused on the wrong things.

He put too little attention on how dangerous Pavlik is and too much attention on trying to prove something to his doubters and crtics.

You people need to start giving Kelly his damn credit all ready.

Didnt look good, are u crazy??? he nearly knocked Pavlik out in 2 rounds!

And Taylor has been champ for years, and has been in even bigger fights. This was Kelly Pavliks first shot at the title, and by FAR his biggest fight as a fighter.

Jermain Taylor just got beat by a better fighter period

jermain is not an elite fighter, he lost twice to bernard ... and arguably lost to winky wright ...

jermain sucks , now lets move on
Yes, it just so happens that I agree with you. In comparison to Kelly Pavlik, Taylor appeared to have lost that swagger of his. You've seen it in both the Hopkin's fights, in which he refused to be intimidated by Hopkins and for this cause, I believe that Hopkins showed Taylor a bit more respect; Perhaps even a little more than he should have.

On the other hand with Pavlik, he appeared to be a bit too meek. He lacked the same confidence and heart that he displayed in the Hopkin's bouts and it showed in the fight. He started off with a lot of nervous energy, his timing was bad and he allowed Pavlik to outmaneuver him in the first round.

Now contrasing that to Pavlik, who was very confident, relaxed and bold and it showed in the fight. He was not intimidated one bit by Taylor. I believe this is reason why he pushed so hard to have this fight made; Because of his confidence in taking Taylor. He saw weaknesses that he could expose. His team even went so far as to put a rematch clause in the agreement, just to ensure that they would get Jermain in the ring and expose him.
