Did you guys know.....
-that Mexico (previously called New Spain) is actually the one administering The Philippines during the Spanish era?
-that we directly traded with Mexico (Manila and Acapulco direcly linked) for 300 years during these times?
-that hundreds of thousands of Filipinos (soldiers, ******, women and adventurers) travelled to Mexico and vice versa?
-that Filipinos influenced their culture and helped them get their independence with Filipino fighting in Mexico against Spain?
-that we shared ****fighting, fruits, and even language.
-that we use some "nahuatlismos" words that originate from the Aztec tribes ...brought to our country by the Mexicans? Ex: achuete, atole, avocado, balsa, ****ueta, cacahuete, cacao, caimito, calabaza, camachile, camote, calachuche, chico,. chocolate, coyote, nana(y), tata(y), tiangui, tocayo, zacate, and zapote
-that they knew about mangoes, tamarinds, ****es from us....and we knew about avocados, tomatoes, etc. from them?
-that Mexico enriched our culture and influenced the likes of Jose Rizal in starting a revolution?
-that a Mexican president had Filipino commanders and soldiers help him revolt against Spain?
-that there are areas in Mexico that has a population of Mexicans with Filipino origin?
-that states in Mexico such as Colima and Guerrero have populations with Filipino descent?
-that there is a population of 200,000 Mexicans who are descendants of or posses Filipino ancestry?
-that their national dress "La China Poblana" was inspired by a Filipina?
-that Mexican prisoners were sent to the philippine islands as exile?
-Descendants of Magat Salamat, Lakandula were exiled to Mexico after first revolt against Spain?
-Philippines got our currency from Mexico - Peso (Mexico) not Pesetas (Spain)?
-that we are more closely related to Mexico than Spain?
Yes, we were under Spain....but did you really know that the previously called New Spain we were under during the Spanish time is actually now called Mexico?
Now we wonder why we have so much in common with the Mexicans. They are our long lost brothers. That's why when we are in the boxing ring, we Filipinos feel the Warrior Spirit run within our veins...and we realize a Warrior Spirit as strong as ours is in theirs.
Interesting isn't it? In the last 5 centuries, Mexico and Philippines were side by side. We did not just have similar history with them. We were DIRECTLY related to them.
Why don't I hear this in our history? Did you guys know this? Or is it just me?
