Please. I take my boxing seriously. Floyd will never, ever be the face of the FIGHTING game. That will be the day.

No. I'm sure Pavlik had faced competition equalling or even surpassing the likes of Corley, Bruseles, Gatti and even Baldomir. You just didnt see his fights.

As great as Pavlik's fight was, we must be measured and realistic. Jermain Taylor had him severely hurt, and Pavlik was one punch from being KO'd.

The same Jermain Taylor who couldn't hurt Cory Spinks, Kassim Ouma, Winky Wright, or Bernard Hopkins in SIXTY rounds.

Jermain Taylor and Edison Miranda are both very poor defensive fighters and very hittable. It is a bit troubling to think how Kelly might look vs a good boxer with defensive capabilities. CalSlappy would school him, and Allan Green would likely KO him.

Still, it is nice to see a new face in that division. The glamour divisions deserve to have stars. Pav seems like a nice kid, even though he is butt-ugly. I like the kid a lot, and hope he does well.

That's overstating it a bit. No one is "the face" of boxing. But ask someone on the street to name a boxer, they'll say Tyson, if you mention De La Hoya they'll say "oh yeah of course," mention Mayweather and maybe they have heard of him. Mention Pavlik and there's little chance.

Who says Mayweather is the face of boxing? His delusional nuthuggers? Manny Pacquiao is a hundred times more popular than Floyd, and I'm not even saying he's the face of boxing.

Well here is a guy who KTFOd Taylor who beat Spinks, Ouma, Wright and Hopkins. An argument could be had that he is better than them.

Saying that Green would KO Pavlik just after the latter KOd the unbeatable Taylor is just ridiculous if not sour-graping.

You know what I mean, as in right now he is the one of the biggest names in boxing and is adding to it's mainstream exposure. They don't know that Pavlik exists unless we are in Atlantic or in Ohio. He is just beginning his rise to stardom, he has a awy to go but if he keeps it up he will make it.

Exactly. Pavlik is not getting a highlight on SportsCenter, not making the cover of SI, not even getting a mention on Pardon The Interruption. Mayweather has at least made it that far. Pavlik needs to defend the MW title fifteen times before that happens.

I’m surprised that Sports Center wouldn’t do a 30 second story on Pavlik winning the mw title in very exciting fashion; the guy’s a ‘human highlight reel’ and is one of the most fan friendly fighters to come along in awhile. Would it kill them to do alittle more boxing coverage?...
