Was Jermain Taylor in good shape?

I can agree that Taylor should have been more poised and in control of his emotions in the ring, given his experience in big fights. But you guys also have to remember that a lot of people were writing Taylor off, saying he wasn't as good as everyone first thought.. He came out feeling like he had to make a statement in this fight, and the 2nd round was his chance to make that statement. I can understand why he punched himself out, when you have a fighter hurt you have to go for broke.Comment

Pest,
If you weren't so insecure and race-focused, you would know that I like Kelly Pavlik, and i don't like Jermain Taylor. I have consistently referred to Taylor as "The HillBilly".
In my head vs heart thread, I picked Jermain Taylor to win by UD. He was the more experienced and seasoned fighter with the big-fight pedigree.
But I WANTED Kelly Pavlik to win via a 9th round KO. So the 7th round KO suits me just fine.
Pest....Why are you so intimidated by me? Just relax.Comment

I TiVo'd it. And watched it again. He stopped throwing and clinched because he was fried right then.
Go watch the round again.Comment

I think he was afraid.
As ****** and cliche' as that sounds...
He was extremely tense in the early rounds, fighting at a pace he's not used to and clearly on the edge. He needed to be a little looser and get into a zone. He never did and spent a lot of energy tightening up for no reason.Comment

LMAO!!! Look at the first three posters who posted on this thread. All three have plumptous asses in their avatars. 3 in a row...lol. Back to back to back asses (triple play).Comment

Not like anything new. He was hanging off of the ropes after 4 rounds with the Winkster. He was taking some serious leather from Pavlik.Comment
