    Jermain and The Kronk....

Not to nitpick or anything, because I touched on this very subject last year at some point, but today I read an interview with Jermain Taylor where he said that in preparation for Saturday's fight with Kelly Pavlik he trained for a time at the Kronk Gym in Detroit and that he knows he is ready for the fight because he "made it through (training at) Kronk. A lot of people don't make it through Kronk."

Now maybe that's good for publicity or something but, come on now, the Kronk has that name and all but if there was a time when he might have worried about not making it through Kronk it would have been more than twenty years ago when guys like McCrory, McCallum, David Braxton, Ricky Womack, Breland, and Tommy "The Hitman" Hearns were there every single day going to war.

I pick Pavlick...I think his hunger will be the difference (but I am usually terrible at picking fights)

What does he mean by "a lot of people don't make it through Kronk?" So there are guys who have contracts for TV fights but don't make it through the sparring at his gym?

EXACTLY!! And that is surprising coming from a guy like Jermain.... I dont care what gym it is or who is in it..the middleweight champ of the world is coming through it.... and like I also say, if this was 1982 Jermain might go into SHOCK at the daily happenings at that gym

i went for miranda against pavlic and was wrong there, but if taylor can't back ouma or spinks up he's got no chance against kelly.
taylors made a career out of light middles, so pavlik will seem huge to him.
                kelly pavlik on points.

I'm sorry to say I have to disagree with you. Imagine you train everyday, you dream of getting the chance of stepping into the ring with the champ and then suddendly your name is called across the gym. Yeah its only sparring but heres your chance to step into the ring with the champ. Do you really think your not going to give it your all? No cameras, No hype, just 2 guys stepping into the ring to train. I'm sorry but if given the chance to step into the ring with the champ, I know I'd get my ass handed to me but I'd still try and wear his ass out. I'd throw everything I have at him, if I'm not faster then I'll try to out work him. If I can't out work him then I'll try to force him into the ropes, and **** the **** out of him. They don't dance around and tap tap tap each other they **** the hell out of each other. Just cause he's a champ doesn't mean **** when he walks through those doors. He's got to prove he's the champ, He's got to make them believe it not because he's got the bling around his waist but because he's there to prove it with his fist. You tell me when you got a line of dudes waiting to take a piece of your ass home your gonna be willing to come back the next day. I think thats what he means people don't last long at Kronk.
