    I think nationalism has more to do with it than you are saying.

    Ray Leonard and Oscar De La Hoya were loved because they won gold medals for the US.

    Roy Jones Jr. was loved, but he wasn't always super exciting (did you see his fight with Hopkins?).

    Some fighters are loved because they are exciting (like Tyson), but Hatton has a much larger following (proportionally) in England than he does globally.

      Roy was never really loved. Ever.

      Ray Leonard and Oscar were loved because they consistently took on the best. They could fight the chumps for years, but sooner or later they knew that they would have to step up. The return investment is actually HIGHER when you are taking on names.

          Spot on, lower class hooligans who get a wet patch every time they see a grown man seriously hurt, should stick to UFC.

          The skill level in boxing is what separates it from UFC and other contact sports, without that its two animals hitting each other in head repeatedly until one cant continue, and i highly doubt wether that can be a sport, no matter what the MMA guys will say.
