Maskaev Camp Irked by Peter's New Title

NEW YORK — Oleg Maskaev's unlikely reign as heavyweight champion ended not with a knockout, but with a decision: a vote by the World Boxing Council's board of governors to name Samuel Peter as its interim titleholder. [details]

Man up Maskaev, you want the title to be undisputed in your favor, than fight for it.

Come now Oleg... you do have to defend the title in order to retain it, otherwise, Lennox would still have all the belts.

The WBC did Maskaev a favor. Now he can say he was robbed of his title instead of loosing it in the ring.

Maskaev made it pretty clear that he wanted no part of this fight from the beginning.

It is wrong, because they had no proof that he was saying he had back injuries because he was ducking peter. They probably have doctor reports from non-biased experts that even show that Maskaev is hurt. If Peter had pulled out, would they still be giving him it? It's not right, it's wrong and corrupt. I hope Mccline knocks out that overrated Sam Peters. Sam Peters fights exactly like rahman, an idiot who only relies on his power because he has no boxing skill what so ever. Reminds me of Nikolai Valuev in some ways.

I agree that they should have gave Maskaev the benefit of the doubt but c'mon dogz how long can a fighter wait for another fighter? Roy Jones Jr fought Anthony Hanshaw with a cut over his eye from playing ball just because Hanshaw trained so hard and he wanted to give the man his chance, Mike Tyson BROKE HIS BACK!(imitating Mike in the interview lolz) when he fought Clifford Etienne, Peter been in line for quite some time, they even tried to play him by putting Vitali in his place and have Peter fight the winner at one point and THAT'S ****ed up for real..

maybe they should have gave him a better evaluation to see if he really couldn't fight but Peter has been waiting for a long time, almost too long so I can see why they did this, even I was getting mad when I was coming to these boxing websites and hearing "fight postponed", it just wasn't fair and no if Peter was pulling out TOO they would have vacated the title to whoever fought in their place that date if their was even a fight to take their place. I doubt Peter is like Rahman dogz this guy is raw power, it took the best Heavyweight to throw gloves on since Lennox Lewis to barely make it out of their fight by a hair after being hurt pretty bad to beat him, Peter would KILL Rahman and their styles maybe are similar, yea I'll give you that because YES they are two big fighters who **** away but they are different caliber fighters, like a .40 Cal and a .50 Cal u feel me.. 100

I quote Mayweather Sr. " he wouldn't know weather to take a **** of go blind" if they fought. Sam would own his ass!!!

Why are you Americans hyping up Peter so much, is it because Americans have no good heavyweights for them to follow.

Well here are the obvious reasons:

1.) He has 1 punch KO Power, and can knock guys out COLD.

2.) He was the first one to make James Toney look like a bum as a heavyweight, and Toney hasn't been the same since. Toney had not lost in almost ten years - Peter not only beat him but embarassed him.

3.) He gave Wlad an extremely difficult time.

4.) He's still young and is improving each fight.

5.) Many feel he beats anyone in the division minus Wlad, but if he keeps improving, he takes Wlad in the rematch.

6.) His style is vulnerable, but he is exciting and takes chances. He also has an excellent chin.

I keep hearing guys saying that Peter is overrated - blah blah blah. If Peter is overrated and gave Wlad such a hard time, then what does that say about Wlad?
