How does a guy gain 30-40 pounds in a couple of months? What tastes THAT good?

But to answer your question, dedication alone beats natural talent alone.

...But when you combine the two, you get something very special.
Hatton's been boxing probably for 20 years or so, he knows how his body responds and how to get in top shape, I've never seen Hatton out of shape in a fight, can't say that he's the same punching machine he was before but those clinches take a lot out of you as well. I think he's dedicated when he needs to be, a lot of so called dedicated fighters over train.

If you don't have natural talent then you will never be great, then again, if you DO have it but you don't have dedication, you still won't be great. So one doesn't work without the other.

I ask this as i believe Hatton is a more naturally talanted fighter than Mayweather. Mayweather is more dedicated yet he seems manufactured.
Yet Ricky goes on the piss all the time but still wins his fights as he has a natural talent. i know this will catch up with him one day but hes in his prime at the min.
Just bear in mind 2 footballers though, David Beckham is probably the most dedicated footballer there is, he is the floyd Mayweather of football so to speak, yet he will never ever be as good as ******* addicted Diego Marradonna who was the greatest play to ever live
so what u reckon peeps, natural talant or dedication?
u seriously think ricky hatton is more naturally talented than floyd mayweather?? i would rather listen to the trash talk and the hate threads. thats jus a silly thing to say, wouldnt u think? i mean, NATURAL TALENT.... hatton MORE than floyd......

come on man, get real i mean seriously thats overboard man

I agree. Talent is a waste unless there is the dedication that goes along with it. If two fighters go into a fight both at the same dedication level the one with the most talent wins almost all the time. Talent wins most of the time, but dedication is key especially in boxing.

To be fair Diego when these guys get 'out of shape' like you stated they are still probably in better shape then the average human. Just not up to high standards to compete at that given time.

And boxing training takes alot out of you. Especially the weight cutting. You need your body to have a little break. Mentally more then physically.

As for the thread, natural talent wins when your younger, dedication will always help you out in the end. If you work your ass off, the universe will repay you. You just got to be smart with it.

It doesn't matter how naturally gifted a fighter or any athlete is in their chosen sport, without dedication and extremely hard work you will never realise your full potential. Anyone who wants to argue differently hasn't got a clue! Roy Jones thought that he would beat Glen johnson alone on talent, he neglected hard work and got hurt badly! Another example is running the Marathon without any long training runs compared to the person who runs 160 kilometres a week. Who would you choose to finish ahead of the other?

                    Dedication, obviously.

No matter what you guys think, boxing is 70% mental and without that part you are bound to nothing.

Dedication but Natural talent= a legend. Natural talent will only get you so far, you will meet someone dedicated who will beat you.
