Miranda, was always noted as a fighter with a big punch. He wasn't praised as some sort of messiah for his division. He was always noted as a threat, no more no less. No one said he was the next Hagler or some ****.

Kelly Pavlik, same thing. No one's sayin he's this big bad ass cyborg, from the future, comin to bring an end to the Middleweight division's world. He's noted as a great puncher, with skill. Kelly earned this fight, because he hasnt lost during his attempt to get here.

I mean other then Pavlik, who would you guys want to see Jermain Taylor fight?
There is not a better fight that can be made in the middleweight division than Taylor vs. Pavlik... however... people really have been saying some unreal ****...

"Pavlik would be Wright by a wide UD or KO."
"Pavlik is going to knock Jermain Taylor's overrated ass out, because Taylor sucks." (I guess that is not a praise of Pavlik, but a discredit of Taylor, which frustrates me too)
"Pavlik is the best middleweight puncher ever."

These predictions seem to give Pavlik hype that is undeserved considering his accomplishments.

Agreed. This has been a complete misunderstanding of the term "overrated."

Pavlik fought himself out of almost complete obscurity and earned this fight the hard way. How's that consistent with being overrated? If anything Pavlik has been underrated his whole career, until Miranda, where the TV pundits sat up and took notice all of the sudden.

Now, I would say, with the exception of some fans on this site, he's "rated" right where he belongs. An extremely threatening power puncher with a great chin. Undefeated and a knockout percentage of 90% supports this observation.

lol I don't know about his life, But the way Jermains been fighting. I'm personally pickin Kelly to win. But someone on here said somthin that made alot of sense. That Taylor fights up to the talent of his opponents. Wich seems like the reason why Taylor looks just as bad in quality as some of the fighters he's facing. I don't know if he's not performing because of that, or because he thinks too much in the ring, or because he's not smart enough to find oppenings or what. They say he has no determination or whatever, but you can see in his eyes and in his body movement, that his head is in there. He is trying. He just doesnt throw any intelligent punches to keep his guy off balance, I mean he has the reach and the speed to do so, but he just stands there in the ring. If he ever let his hands AND feet go, I think he woulda beat Hopkins and Wright with ease. I dont know though, But it will be a good fight next Sat.

Pavlik is not overrated outside of boxingscene, hell, hes not here for the most part. You just have your usual fanboys that their fighter is the best at everything and cant loose. And if you constructively criticize their fighter they will call you every name in the book.

I think pavlik has a lot of potential, but I also believe that pavlik's style is what taylor needs to look good and quiet peoples claims of him not belonging where he is.

people always talk about Kelly Pavlik's opposition whatever your opinions on that. The fact is though that Kelly Pavlik will be the first real middleweight Jermaine Taylor has ever faced and slso the first guy with any kind of power he's ever faced.
