    The Great Black Hope

The roles have now been reversed and black folks are searching for The Great Black Hope to help save face in the heavyweight division. The obvious leading candidate is Sam Peter, but he was already exposed by Wlad and he would be knocked out in the rematch. It looked for a bit like Lamon Brewster could be that Hope when he starched Golota in 57 seconds, but he was then destroyed by Sergei and Wlad. It looks at the moment like my fellow Eastern European Brothers are going to dominate for the rest of existence and they most definately will. Prepare to see more and more black Gerry Cooney's get hyped up by the media and fail.

No black people aren't and EVERYONE is just hoping for a Heavyweight to take the division and put it under it's wing, whether the person be black white brown or yellow, well as long as they are American.

I second that. People want a good AMERICAN heavyweight.

Well you can forget about that because Americans are becoming softer and weaker as the years pass. Americans don't have to go through the struggle and hardship that us Eastern Europeans go through. If you're looking for an American Heavyweight Champion go watch Randy Couture, but that won't last for long because Fedor Emelianenko and his brother are coming to the UFC and they will destroy everyone.

I agree with the posters above. Firstly, Peter is an African who is most likely not in the least concerned with foolish American identity politics (Black vs. White nonsense).. Besides, there is no comparison between the different contexts. Cooney vs. Holmes was literally, racially motivated, as it concerned fan favorites. Today, we're simply looking to bring the Heavy Weight division back home and build it back to where it used to be, since it totally sucks ass compared to how it was in the days of Cooney/Holmes. No comparison whatsoever..

              #1.. Today's competition sucks
#2.. Today, our search for a premiere heavy weight isn't at all racially motivated..
#3.. The tables haven't turned since Cooney was a White American, unlike any of the Heavy Weight belt holders today.

              Dumb thread..

Gerry Cooney wasnt a bad fighter at all...he hit hard as hell...

and TONY THOMPSON all the way!!!! he beats all the other guys other than Wlad, Peter and maybe Chagaev.

and Oleg is American anyway, he showed his citizenship to everyone before the Rahman fight. unless he changed back. most of all the Eastern Europeans boxers live in America now anyway.

Brewster might have beaten Sergei if his eyeball hadnt popped out early in their fight, but you really can never tell, so Im not going to say anything about that.

the thing is, everyone is saying at how much the heavyweight division sucks, well look at what race and ethnicity are dominating it. The Klitschko's, Chagaev and Maskaev. These guys aren't as enertaining to the public as Tyson, Lewis and Bowe. Tony Thompson is the top (ranked) heavyweight in America right now, let's see how he does with the WBO.

And the yeti known as Valuev. If that isn't a testament to how bad the heavy division is right now, nothing is. In all seriousness Ruiz was preferable to him.
