I simply can't respect Ronnie anymore, especially after reading all of his biased Pacquiao articles as of late. It's gotten extremely out of hand, especially the bias. Anytime Pacquiao makes a move, Ronnie has an article devoted to it. I remember how thrilling the article on Pac running up a mountain was, that was edge of your seat stuff. Or how about the one where Pac sparred six rounds? Damn, I almost fainted after reading that one.
I understand Pacquiao has just about the most loyal, and large fan base in all of boxing, probably even more than Ricky Hatton. But the Pacquiao fanbase has taken on a sort of cult mentality in recent months. There are a few very respectful, honest, and likable Pacquiao fans on these boards, but I've seen more disrespect for Marco Antonio Barrera and his legacy in the past few months on this board than I ever have in my life.
It's no secret I'm a Barrera fan, but by the same token I'm also a Pacquiao fan. I'm just not insanely obsessed with every movement he makes. It's really disheartening to see such total disrespect for a fighter such as Barrera, by a group of people whom I know love and admire the sport, and the idol who lifted their spirits. But when it comes down to this level, it's simply giving everybody involved a bad name.
I'll be rooting for Barrera come October 6th, because I always have and I always will. Fighters who captivate your attention in the way Marco has captivated mine don't come along too often, and I'm not going to give up on him simply because he's old and the odds are stacked against him. I think anybody should be able to respect that.
