In addition to participating in the hit ABC reality show, Mayweather will also take center stage in "Mayweather/Hatton 24/7," a four-part HBO series that will follow Mayweather and England's Ricky Hatton as they prepare for their much-anticipated Dec. 8 (HBO PPV) welterweight championship fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

In April and May, HBO cameras tracked Mayweather and Oscar De La Hoya during the buildup to their fight, which shattered virtually every boxing box office record.

Mayweather was the clear star of the hit show, which, according to HBO, averaged 4.7 million viewers for each episode during the four-week run.

Bringing the series back for Mayweather's next fight comes as little surprise, and HBO made the announcement Wednesday with Mayweather (38-0, 24 KOs) and Hatton (43-0, 31 KOs) in New York meeting the media in the midst of a five-city, two-country press tour to promote the pay-per-view.

All 16,000-plus tickets to the fight at MGM Grand sold out in less than 30 minutes on Monday, generating a live gate of more than $10 million. Organizers will add thousands of closed circuit seats throughout Las Vegas, which will accommodate thousands of Hatton's British fans unable to get tickets to the arena.

The first 30-minute episode of "Mayweather/Hatton 24/7" will debut Nov. 18 (10 p.m. ET/PT). The second and third episodes will air in the same Sunday night time slot with the finale due to air Thursday, Dec. 6, two days before the bout.

The series is expected to have a similar feel to last spring's, meaning plenty of behind-the-scenes access to the fighters during training camp along with in-depth interviews with the fighters and members of their teams.

"In addition to this being the most anticipated welterweight title fight since Oscar De La Hoya squared off with Felix Trinidad in 1999, these are two of the sport's most engaging and colorful personalities," HBO Sports president Ross Greenburg said in announcing the series. "We were thrilled with the launch of the '24/7' franchise last spring and believe we have found the ideal sequel.

"The contrasts between the cities of Las Vegas [Mayweather's base] and Manchester [Hatton's home] will be a terrific jumping off point for the series. We truly appreciate the commitment and cooperation of the fighters and their teams with this ambitious project."

    Excellent news.

Majority of the show will talk about Mayweather being on Dancing with the stars, if he lasts long enough IMO. Hopefully they can show Hatton being the down to earth that he is and not have Floyd looking like such a bad guy, again.

Im more looking forward to how Hatton plays his part. It would be awesome if we could actually see him lose all that weight he puts on between fights episode by episode. Itll be like one of those weight loss informercials, 'Hi Im Ricky Hatton, and I just lost 60 lbs in 5 weeks on the getting ready to fight Floyd Mayweather diet!' I really like Hatton tho, such a cool guy, I think its gonna be fun to see him in this series.

This will most likely be a better installment of 24/7 than the De La Hoya-Mayweather one. Because it was a bigger fight, it may have drawn more viewers, but Ricky is a much more engaging guy, like somebody said, than Oscar.

Him and Floyd will both be great to watch in this show. To see how Floyd trains while training for the "Stars" show will be interesting, to see how he handles it.

This is pretty awesome, though I hope no one gets ****ing disapointed again if Mayweather doesn't slug it out like many casual fans did with de la hoya. Big mistake on their part.

He did fight Toe-to toe against DLH, but sparringly. I think he will go toe to toe from about the 5th or 6th round on after he has softened Hatton up.

I think that the series will be once again terrific but they are making a big mistake by having Floyd again. I think that if they want this 24/7 series to be viable in the long run then they should have differentiated it with different fighters. While Floyd/Hatton is obviously a great character contrast, I feel that Mosley-Cotto or even Trinidad-Jones(provided HBO PPV distributes the fight) would have been more original

Floyd keeps saying that Hatton fights over the hill fighters. If that is so, what does that make Baldo, Gatti, and Oscar? Young prime fighters? Floyd should look at his own past opponents before he criticizes anyone elses
                    Actually the question is:

if mayweather says hatton fights old fighters past their prime wouldnt that mean (since hatton is fighting him) that floyd is calling HIMSELF a fighter past his prime...

i know he probably didnt intend to but he basically just trash talked himself...

                    thats how smart mayweather is...

but to answer you question (and no im no floyd fanboy...i dont like him really at all actually). De la hoya is a tad past his prime but its true those 3 fighters were past their prime at the time they fought floyd (in my opinion).

oscar (in my opinion) out of that group i really thought beat mayweather...

infact jose luis castillo and oscar de la hoya (in my opinion) are the only fighters thus far who beat floyd...and i wish it was official...then all the floyd trashtalking would end...he's not that good at it either (like his rapping...lol)

                    anyway...

i stand by the underdog on this one...go hatton!
