What I'm trying to say is that there's no such thing as a free lunch and if Oscar is offering to fight on a non-PPV card, I'm sure he's doing it for financial gain in some way or another.
Of course he is; he just can't lose PPVs th whoever is p4p #1 (Shane, Hopkins, Mayweather) at the time forever. he needs to remind us occasionally that he can still blow a guy's head off. Plus he needs to keep himself in the public eye some more, and he'll use the card to promote another fighter. Look for a very carefully chosen match for himself and a guy of his choosing. And I wasn't kidding about Marg, that guy is perfect for Oscar.

Edit: it will be HBO's most watched program in years, other than the Soprano's finale.

It would be good for boxing, maybe on ABC or something. I hope he doesn't fight Floyd again, it seems like a waste of time except for the money it would make.

He might choose Margarito but I don't know if that will turn out as good as he wants it. Margo is lanky and can pop him with the jab all night long. He can also take a punch, so I doubt Oscar could KO him.

If I were Oscar, I'd try and get a fight with someone a little less risky than Margarito. Maybe he should fight Alfonso Gomez, Luis Collazo, or Oktay Urkal; you know, someone he could easily beat but that at least has a recognized name in the sport.

As long as ODLH is still around, it will still be every fighters dream to fight the man who lays the Golden egg only because there is big money involved but how much money are they going to offer his opponent? I don't think anyone in their right mind will fight Oscar for peanuts. Mora wont fight Oscar for peanuts. Mora is already famous. I guess ODLH is going to have to find some one just as wealthy as he is (good luck) or find someone who is hard up or wants to be more recognized.
Maybe a catch weight with good ol' Emanuel Augustus. lol

He doesn't have to stoop anywhere near that low. Someone with a belt at 154 or a welter ranked between #5 and #10 would fit into the category of easy for Oscar to handle (let's not kid ourselves just b/c he lost to three p4p #1s, he's still elite) and willing to take a decent pay date with a shot at glory.

Margarito or Judah would be great for Oscar.

This is a phenomenal idea. All the theories about boxing getting its popularity back by going to network TV are flawed: you still need a huge event on free TV before any progress can be made.

Tarver-Muriqi on ABC, while a great idea, was not going to win boxing thousands of new fans. DLH vs. whoever with a co-feature that would probably feature a GBP prospect like Mares or Allen would be very good. Who knows, maybe DLH will fell very charitable and put a well-known GBP fighter in the co-feature.

I'm assuming this would take place in January or February, so perhaps Casamayor-David Diaz? Ouma-Mora after all?

As far as potential opponents for Oscar, I guess we should look at welterweight, but maybe his tune-up will be at 154 or 150. I'll go ahead and throw some names out there and see if you guys think any stick:

Alfonso Gomez -- relatively high profile obviously, perfect style match-up
Matthew Hatton (!) -- just kidding...kind of....think, it sets up a brotherly revenge match and has extra appeal
Ben Tackie -- if he upsets Gomez...
Ricardo Torres -- I think this would be very, very interesting...Torres obviously would have to move up but the style is awesome, Top Rank and GBP are living in harmony right now, etc etc...I'd love it
Juan Lazcano -- GBP fighter, would be moving up, nice style

                    Others
                    Verno Phillips
                    Golden Johnson
Troy Browning (39-yr old undefeated fighter who upset Julio Cesar Garcia, from Philly, a PERFECT Rocky-like storyline)

I considered guys like Forrest, Judah and Clottey but those are just too difficult to be considered tune-ups.

                    What do you guys think?
