    Thanks for your reply. Now that you mention it, that sort of rings a bell. Still, were it not for Muhammad Ali's retirement, Cosell might have hung around longer. Because Cosell's peak as a boxing broadcaster was simultaneous with Ali's peak as a fighter, they fed off each other. Ali's departure from the boxing scene might have been a contributing, though unstated factor in Howard's decision to flee.
