Floyd claims that he will go toe-toe with Hatton.

His last few fights:
De La Hoya - Very defensive.
Baldomir - Kind of defensive, but still managing to sit down on some of his punches.
Judah - Defensive at first, but started throwing and landing combinations from round 4 on.
Mitchell - Toe-to-toe all the way through.
Gatti - Toe-to-toe all the way through.
Bruseles - Toe-to-toe all the way though.
Corley - Recklessly brawling with no thought of defense.
I have a feeling that since he isn't fighting De La Hoya, who is huge compared to Floyd, or the concrete wall named Carlos Baldomir, he will stand and trade (well not really trade, but he will be toe-to-toe) a lot more than most people expect.Comment

A PIVOT... as I use the term - is to push off the foot to change direction. Typically the front foot.
What term do you use for that?Comment

if floyd won't go toe to toe with any of those guys in those situations where he had all the advantages in the world, why in the hell would he go toe to toe against a very live dog in ricky hatton, he aint going to do it. floyd always calls himself the creme de la creme but when he talks like this all he is, is nothing but tit milk from the hind tit.....................as far as i'm concerned.Comment

What Mayweather was doing was hitting, and moving left/ringht/in out. How are you doing that without pivoting?
If i'm an idiot, pls educate me?Comment

We'll see... he hasn't always been that way, especially at 140. He is fighting a blown up 140 pounder, and he did fight toe-to-toe with Sharmba Mitchell, who was also a blown up 140 pounder.

Thus goes my statement of him fighting smart against a fighter whose main savvy is inside fighting.Comment

yep exactly, face it people floyd says he's going to go toe to toe but in his career he never has, he never even went toe to toe with guys that he had beat or had out gunned like G. Vargas, Sosa, C. Hernandez, Baldomir, and DLH which the last two DLH and baldomir floyd said that he was going to go toe to toe and all he did was back pedal and pot shot making it boring to watch, so boring in fact that in his baldomir fight more then half the crowd left before the 8th round, there was no one in the seats when they declared floyd the winner, and there was a less then enthusiastic reaction when he beat DLH due to a boring fight.

My batting average is too high, I'll let someone else step up to the plate to knock this slow pitch ball out of the park.Comment

I agree with you that he fights smart, I just disagreed because you said he always fights smart defensive, which isn't always true.
Straight up, he didn't excercise much defense in the Gatti or Bruseles fights, but that's because he didn't have to.
Note that when I am talking about defense in this thread, it means blocking punches... he still ducked and slipped punches coming his way.Comment
