Why did he choose to count the marquez-pacquiao fight in spanish? There are complaints especially from the pro-pacquiao fans that cortez' counts were a little bit slow than usual. Well, i agree because he chose spanish.. uno, dos, tres, quatro (and if you compare it with english, one, two, three, four - that's just one syllable word each as compared to two-syllable spanish words, uno, dos, tres, quatro!)
I'm just wondering is there an official rule in choosing a language for counting a boxing match? And pacquiao is a filipino, although he understand it quite fully because it's just a count, this is not the point i am raising, i mean why not count in english because this is the standard language use all over the world? Is it because marquez speaks in spanish and he's the one being count? If pacquiao was the one being knocked down, would the referee count it in english? Well, just for a point of clarification, anyone?
