Kostya has a 67' inch reach .. pretty short .. so Billy Graham (Hatton's trainer) came up with a game plan to bum rush Kostya so he didn't have time to measure and consistantly tee up Hatton.

vs Mayweather they have to come up with a hell of a gameplan .. because closing the distance on a fighter who has better speed and footwork will not be easy.

Ricky can chase Floyd down all he wants, but I don't think he'll be able to consistanty hit him enough to stop him.
Good points. KT didn't have the hand or foot speed to use is jab effectively to keep Hatton off him. Hatton having better footwork & speed than KT was able to take advantage of that & fight his fight. With Mayweather Hatton is going to have a helluva time trying closing the gap to land on Mayweather.

The Game Plan is simple... Floyd By leaning.. He is very hard to Hit in the head.. But leaves his body totally exposed..Hatton is a Killer Body puncher who will try to take advantage of this..
This leave Hatton open to Counters galore..

But I am guessing They feel with Floyd's Power(underated IMO) and Hatton's Chin that if KT couldn't knock him out.. That Floyd wont be able to either..

I really dont know what Hatton is going to do.... he is in over his head.. BUT i felt that way when he fought Tszyu..

Maybe he knows what he is doing..

I agree, Floyd's power is under rated. keep reading there is more. see huge mistake right there (so what if Floyd can't KO Hatton .. is Mayweather seriously going to stand in front of Hatton and trade for 12 rounds? giving up all his advantages in the process)...

just because Floyd doesn't have concussive one hit KO power .. doesn't mean he can't hurt you. (look at Zab's face and even the nose of Baldy)

"I really dont know what Hatton is going to do.... he is in over his head.. BUT i felt that way when he fought Tszyu.."

sure you may of felt that for the Kostya fight.. but I did a lil bbc.com research ... and they (Hatton's team) have been talking about Kostya vs Hatton happening since early 2000. maybe even earlier

thats the fight he wanted far and away. they didn't just want Kostya .. they studied him to a point, how he fought, what his advantages were and most importantly how to beat him .. (Billy Graham see above post.)

not just for Hatton .. but beating a complete fighter ... one who can box and move, has fast hands, good footwork .. and rediculously good defense is gonna be a tough task for anyone .. even Ricky Hatton.

Eh. I guess I'll come out and say it then:

Please don't confuse "good fighter" with "smart fighter". Hatton is 100% offense. He fights like a man who isn't really concerned with what the other guy is going to do. He's a tough kid but I haven't seen him ever do anything except rush his opponent. The first time he fought a good, slick boxer he didn't look so hot.

Personally I think Witter and/or Paulie both have a good shot of digging in his ass, and I'd much rather see Hatton fighting one of those two and Floyd fighting one of the real 147 pounders, maybe get some belts unified. All the talent between 140 and 147, there shouldn't be 8 titleholders. Some of these guys should be fighting each other.

They have also been talking about a fight with Mayweather since he went to 140.

              whats your point?

that doesn't compare AT ALL to how long (Hatton's team) have targeted Kostya Tzyou.

and were they really that serious about fighting Floyd in 04?

Not after that Gatti fight, that's for sure.

If by "talking about" you mean "running from", then yes. Team Hatton has been "talking about" a Mayweather fight since he came to 140.

I knew what the response would be when I mentioned they have been watching Mayweather for a long time. It doesn't matter how much they were "avoiding" the fight, they were watching.
