OH, I think its fairly obvious that if Hatton knocks off Mayweather, he will be a legitimate p4p canditate, along with Pacquiao. No doubt!

yes, unfortunately the old Saying "you gotta beat the man to be the man" doesn't apply in the mythical p4p rankings.

The reason is it's just a marketing ploy to generate interest and put asses in seats. It's about as solid as a fart in the wind. It is however a part of the sport and a sort of braggin right for the fighter and his fans too!

The sad thing is that most fair weathered fans will boat jump to whomever holds the title just to be on the winning team- which is about the gayest thing one could do IMHO!

                Should is up for debate...

                Will is a definate no.

I already posted a thread about how Vernon Forrest was undefeated, and beat the (also undefeated) P4P #1 Shane Mosley. He didn't get P4P #1 after he beat him once. He didn't get it after he won the rematch. He settled at #4 at the end of the year.

Lol, like Jones did? Or Hopkins?

How can you make such an obviously uninformed statement? Both Jones and Hopkins Garnered the Spot by STAYING and dominating weak divisions!

I've heard that Mayweather started to be recognized as P4P #1 after he beat the **** out of Gatti, which was before the Hopkins-Taylor fight.
