There was also Ali. For his time he made it big financially. He was a bigger draw, and more popular. Floyd is not the only black athlete to make it in boxing. Sugar Shane has been in more high profile fights, he is just not as flamboyant abot it. You don't hink he made crazy money fighting Oscar twice,Vargas twice, Winky twice. Shane is financially just as big if not bigger you would just never know because he doesn't flaunt it.

I'm just curious as to who actually bases their sports preferences on what color an athlete is?

For ****'s sake, I'm white, but if all I liked were white boxers, like would be damn boring. Who am I going to cheer on, Jason Litzau? No thanks.

          The white man's top 5
          Forrest - Black
          Judah - Black
          Mayorga - Latino
          Mayweather - Black
Wright - Black (I think, although I have been curious, because he isn't very dark.)

Racists have no place in boxing... it is too diversified for them to even enjoy the sport (unless they just watch heavyweights, which would make them douchebags anyway).

Your telling me that he is more successful than Tyson. Tyson won the heavyweight title at 20. You included Oscar but Floyd is no where in Oscar's league as far as money, status, drawing power, and popularity. Oscar is the Tiger Woods of boxing, in that he draws the casual fan to boxing, or people who would not normally watch boxing. As Tiger does in Golf. Floyd doesn't fall into that category.

Race is manifested heavily within the mainstream consciousness, therefore it shouldn't be surprising that some people are aware of it as it concerns boxing, especially Latin people (namely Mexicans).. For example, I won't front, before May 5th, I liked Mayweather but I wasn't a fan. On that day I became a fan due to all of the hate he was receiving from other ethnicities and the fact that DeLahoya was trying to make an example of him in the name of an ethnic holiday. It was amusing to me how much that **** backfired with Floyd coming out with Mexican colors and a Sombrero (then of course Hatton's lame ass swagger jacked him) and still tapping that ass. I was relieved that my brotha wasn't a victim of someone else's ethnic pride, the fool represented by winning. That's as far as my racial awareness towards boxing has ever went though and only because me being proud of Floyd, not hating DLH..

Im hispanic, and I have nothin against Barry Bonds but he wouldn't have put up the numbers he did, had it not been for the steroids just likw when mark McGuire did it, s in that sense theses records are tainted. I like Michael Vick but what he did was ****** and he brought this all on himself. This has nothing to do with race because as you can see I included McGuire and that goes for anyone who uses performance enhacing drugs that break these records of all time greats that did it the right way.
