In this instance, i think you are being maybe a tad naive. I have specifically read some posts with not-too-thinly-veiled racism regarding Mayweather.

In one instance, the post referred to Hatton beating Mayweather the way that Calzaghe beat 'that other thug' Lacy.

I asked what the similarities were between Mayweather and Lacy, and what classified Lacy as a thug. No response.

I have also seen Mayweather's antics referred to as "******". What is inherently ****** about being spoiled or arrogant? About living a garish lifestyle? About con****ious consumption? In that case, I guess Paris Hilton is "******".

Racism isn't always overt. In fact, the vast majority of racism is subtle. But like the Supreme Court said about ****ography: I know it when I see it.
Dios man, you just laid it out........I see it on here too...Some of these guys can't tell who Floyd fought 5 fights ago ( or any boxers for that matter)

    p.s.
If Ricky Hatton was black, I doubt English Fans would be trying to get them selves on the first boat to NV ..........

He is a good person and a good boxer,

For those crying nerds who believe every word he says, i would like to point out for the following.

-Who went to 30 schools last years doing talks to children about bettering themselves?

-Who is building community centres to help people less fortunate than him

-Who works with Charities in his spare time and helps out families during thanksgiving?

-Who is 100% Dedicated to boxing and doesnt get drunk, fat, abuse his body, or blow up to light heavy weight in between fights,

My goodness your rates are high as hell, can't I just post it, how much will it cost? Hell I will take the risk, Floyd Mayweather does.

The main subtle racism I see is what DD has said, Mayweather being "******", people don't understand what the word means but use it to describe a person they dislike, even if it doesn't match the criteria.

You really are a disgusting hypocrite. I saw a post of yours recently where you refered to Hatton as "the pink man" when you said he will lose to Mayweather.

As you said, sometimes racism comes in subtle forms.

I love Floyd's talent and skills. He's just a prodigy. Sadly, he's a phony and I can't stand listening to him, that's why I just watch him fight.

The last boxer from Britain who was close to having Hatton's popularity was Frank Bruno. Lennox Lewis was not as popular as Hatton is now but he still had thousands of fans travelling to Vegas to see him fight. And I don't know if you know this but Lennox Lewis is a gentleman of colour.

Race is not as important in Britain, it really isn't the same thing as in the US. Most popular soccer player pre-Beckham? Ian Wright has a good shout. In the 80s John Barnes was incredibly popular. Linford Christie and Kriss Akabusi have enjoyed wild popularity in Britain, one of the most beloved comedians is Lenny Henry. Wanna talk boxing> Aside from Bruno you have Nigel Benn who was popular. Chris Eubank was not popular because people considered him to be arrogant. Once he started wearing jodphurs and a monacle he started to become more popular. Because the Brits are turned off or on by skin colour. We like a guy who doesn't take themselves too seriously, and we tend to dislike a showoff.
