personally id rather see the second one
cuz hes leaven room for it may b possible to be beaten plus hes challengen

Its funny you say that. I just traveled through, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and Nevada on the way to Henderson, Nevada. I saw hardly any black people and the loudmouths I saw hanging around the gas stations and restaurants were Mexican, Indian and whites.

KayJay, I tried to speed read that PDF but only got to the fourth page and read part of the conclusion. So far the general thesis doesn't seem to be compatible with yours as they went out of their way to note actual instances of discrimination against the Chinese, in housing sectors, etc. They note towards the end of the article a confirmed correlation between actual segregation of African Americans and health status.

Concerning the abstract that you've presented by the Journal of Black Psychologists, where you quote (from the conclusion):

Racist discrimination is rampant in the lives of African Americans and is strongly related to psychiatric symptoms and to cigarette smoking.

^Where is the word 'perceived"? It seems like an affirmation from what I can infer.

I was going to add that in that article, they didn't distinguish 'perceived' from other racisms but only use claims about frequency of racial events in the patients personal lives (not even specualting about the various degrees of merit of the claims). Other articles about 'perceived racism' show differences in health effects between 'types' of blacks, and distinguish these types according to how frequently the individuals identify ambiguous circumstances as racist (surely you imagine there will be a lot of variance here?). That article only touches upon similar distinctions when it discusses the diminished negative effects of "Afrocentric" blacks. INterestingly blacks who identify more strongly as blacks aren't as effected as other blacks, though this doesn't mean they perceive less racism (i.e. Afrocentrism has a coping effect).

I'll see if I can track you another link before I leave.

Like I said if you said it to my or any black males face you would get your ass stomped out, boy.
Not to start anything but to make a point.... you talk about steroetyping... but you come on here and say that if this guy "says something to me or any black males face he would get stomped out." That's kind of...presumptuious of you, no? So you assume he is a white guy and you assume that if he says something negative to any black male he will get beaten up as a result? Not for nothing but... you dont believe that there are black males that can be dissed in public and beaten to a pulp when they try to attack their antagonizer? I mean, thinking you can fight in the street based soley on your color in relation to your opponents color is really kind of ******..and a quick way to ultimately getting yourself beaten down by some guy you assume you will beat up on.

Well wouldn't this delightful information effectively render your initial premise, bankrupt? We're in fact discussing a material artifact and not some grand delusion inherent among black people. Why in the world would "afrocentric" blacks need to cope with their inherent delusions? Or is it that maybe these so-called "afrocentric" blacks have more interest in building up themselves and those with whom they identify closest, than in the preoccupations of the overwhelming part of a post-racist society?

It still has nothing to do with the veracity of the claims (for that you'd have to study the attitudes and beliefs of the whites, which the psychologists aren't doing; not to mention the claims might be unfalsifiable, which is an ugly possibility scientifically).

                      1. Perceiving racism causes increased stress which can cause high blood pressure, depression, etc.

                      2. Perceiving racism while also haveing a strong base for identification (coping) reduces the physiological effects of the perception in 1.

In neither case is the truth of the perceptions brought into play.
