I don't really care for MMA; I've always favored boxing. There is something about boxing to me that seems classic. IMO, I feel it's more challenging to systematically break down/knock someone out using your hands exclusively as opposed to having the use of your entire arm, legs, etc. to take someone out or the ability to kick someone when they're down to weaken them. Boxing gives you the 10 count which doesn't allow a fighter to take advantage of a downed opponent. If anything, it makes it harder for a fighter because the opponent can recompse himself with the ability to get back into an equal fighting position.

I give credit to MMA fighters because I certainly don't have the balls to do what they do but, again imo, there is something more honorable to straight duking it out with someone. I feel it takes more effort to finish a fight that way.

MMA is nothing like a streetfight.

Many people criticize the standup, which in some cases is lacking, but the standup is a completely different game than it is in boxing or Muay Thai. The threat of takedowns switches up the technique so that it is very different than boxing.

Hiher level organizations such as UFC, IFL, WEC ect all have high caliber, very skilled fighters.

There are some promotions that out on circus act fights, and mismatched fights ect... but there is also alot of that in boxing. ALOT.

The issue comes up because everyone is very sensitive because MMA fans all think MMA is better than boxing, and boxing fans think Boxing is better than MMA...... and everyone gets their panties in a wad having ridiculous debates about it.

In reality it is two completely different skill sets, therefore two different sports. Comparing them is like comparing a pitcher and a QB. Yes they both throw a ball... but different balls in completely different circumstances.

I like both, actually watching I believe ufc 12 and seeing the horrible stand up fighting is what got me back into watching boxing.

UFC itself isn't that bad. I like it, I guess. But a lot of the other leagues or w/e you wanna call them (IFL, etc) and those other cage events are wack IMO.

          PrideFC was/is straight as well.

I've never been a fan of mma as i always saw it as a bunch of h**** rolling around in their underwear. Having been around some serious guys who train for it at the gym where I go to and learning a bit more about it I have to admit I like watching it now. I'd still rather see boxing, kickboxing or an mma fight with good strikers rather than a lot of grappling, but its kind of interesting to see the different styles and jujitsu and wrestling stuff sometimes too.

I do like UFC, but it pisses me off when they roll around on the floor for ages and alot of them do seem out of shape, it will never compare to boxing for me though.

I don't like MMA To me it's for guys who have ground skills like wrestling jiu jitsu, etc. But when they stand up it's like a tough man contest.

the moneymen in MMA and boxing right now are buying each other expensive vodka and caviar getting a good laugh at how this "rivalry" is lining their pockets and has created much press for their sports..... and Sulaiman is sitting in the backround wondering why he is shut out of MMA.
