That's not true. When the fight was on the table for the both of them Harris was offered a number which would've been his highest payday. But after everyone got their cut it would've been significantly lower. Not to mention Hatton was getting a HUGE cut & it was Harris the one taking the risk of fighting overseas & putting his belt on the line. You may or may not agree with him turning down the fight but all he wanted was to be compensated for that & be treated like a champion.

Until Tszyu noone wanted anything to do with Hatton, he was seen as too much risk, too little reward, especially following his dismantling of Ben Tackie.

Again that's not true. I saw an article that Mayweather wanted to make his 140 debut against Hatton but that fight was turned down due to Hatton not being ready. As you know this was pre Tsyzu. So they went with Chop Chop Corley.

I have never heard anything like that, that Mayweather wanted Hatton rather than Corley. Would Mayweather have fought Hatton in England? Because as you know Hatton was with Warren and by that stage there was no way Hatton was being allowed to leave the country!

This isn't the same article I read but you can look at this & take it for what it's worth:

BBC, Sport, BBC Sport, bbc.co.uk, world, uk, international, foreign, british, online, service

              Best in Brittian? why not

I could see Ricky Hatton finally fighting Junior Witter, when Witter is 35. but on a more serious note

at 33 years old. how many years does Witter have left?

he's gotta start picking it up, and it starts with Vivian Harris.

its kinda a shame, cuz it woulda been a good domestic battle between the best British 140 pounders.

*Witter's only chance really, is to keep winning and running his mouth off about Hatton.

granted fighting Junior Witter is high risk low reward .. but if HBO could see a PPV grudge match with Mayorga vs Oscar (keep in mind Mayorga previously got waxed by Tito)

then im sure HBO or Showtime can equally get a Hatton-Witter grudge match.

but a lot of variables have to swing Junior's way

Hatton wants to get respect in the worldwide boxing scene by fighting big stage names, not taking a step back and fighting witter who would have been his biggest fight had he stayed with frank warren as his promoter, I rekon hatton would knock him the **** out anyway.

The only people who want to see Hatton fight Witter are people who want to discredit Hatton by claiming he is ducking someone and, er, Junior Witter.

Saying Hatton is levels above Witter is just silly IMO. It was a big disappointment that Warren didn't put these guys together in the substantial period of time where they were both operating below world level.

If Hatton loses badly to PBF I can see him taking a payday against witter - he'd get decent enough money for that, and would be the favourite.
