I'd disagree. I think having your sparring partners chin check you in training can help build a better chin but you have to have something to work with to start off. If you are born with a glass chin I don't think any amount of training can help you devolp a granite one.Comment

There are 3 things you either have or don't have, 1- Speed 2- Power 3- Chin. Even though you can better speed and power in the gym to a certian extent, at the world class level it's just something you are born with.
Chin is the only thing you cannot improve. Getting hit in the gym doesn't improve your chin as a matter of fact it can make it worse if you already have a suspect chin to begin with. Some guys have a great chin some just don't, it's something God hands out not soemthing you can improve on.
If that was the case, you would hear of fighters trying to improve their chin but you never hear of that.
The things you need to improve as a fighter, are the things you are naturally good at. If you are a hard hitter and have agood chin, then become a great in-fighter or brawler. If you have great speed but don't hit as hard, practice on your boxing skills. I think the biggest mistakes fighters make is trying to be something they just aren't, find your strengths and develope them to become a master at what you TRULY are.Comment

A great boxer doesn't need a great chin in the first place because his boxing skills should be able to keep him from being hit, enough to win .
Now if we are talking about a great 'boxer' as in being a great fighter in the sport of boxing and not talking about the 'style' of a boxer then that is different .Comment
