Oscar tells Ricky not to lose his head

Oscar has had promotional tours with both. Oscar says it's Floyd.
Mayorga crosses the line. He talks about your mother and sister and how your mom will become a whore on the streets. That isn't trash-talking. That's just an insult.
Floyd told Oscar "I can be 130, and you'd be 160 and I'd STILL beat you". That is trash-talking.

After prison, Tyson became very aware of how playing the bad guy made alot of money. I dont believe Hatton is playing a role. He has always been the same character. Floyd cant hide the fact that he cant take any kind of criticism, his ego is fragile and he is self absorbed. At times he acts to promote a fight, but in general he is an *******.I don't want to play devils advocate here (and this may have been stated already ( I haven't read the entire thread)) but dont be too quick to hate on Mayweather.
I know this is hypocritical of me, as I myself have done some hating on him as well, but I've been thinking about this.
What's the most important thing to any professional fighter? Money. As muchas we hate to admit it, it is. This is why they become "professionals". To get paid to do what they are gifted at doing.
So it only makes sense to try and make as much money as you possibly can. It's not a career you can be in for very long, so you've got to.
And if you want to make as much money as you can, as fast as you can, you take the biggest, highest paying fights you can find.
And then, you put as many asses in the seats as you can, and nothing does that better than a nice "good guy, bad guy" formula. It works in the movies, it works in boxing. Its human nature.
These two guys are playing roles, and we should not be so naieve as to make the assumption that these two guy are anything like the roles they are playing any more than we'd assume that Anthony Hopkins really is a cannabalistic ex-psychiatrist.
When Oscar and Floyd came to Dallas to promote the fight back in Feb, I took the day off and went. After it was over, it was Oscar that was standoffish and aloof when it came time to meet the public and sign things and so on, and it was, in fact, Floyd that was the more friendly, approachable and accessible of the two.
I think that most of us already know that these two guys are just following a tried and true marketing strategy, but just in case someone out there thinks otherwise, it's just marketing.
I can respect Oscar for not feeling the need to sign autographs and chat to the fans as he is a fighter and not a pop star. Mayweather on the other hand craves public recognition and the fans adoration. He is desperate to be popular.
I understand the marketing side of the sport, but Mayweather could quite easily win so many more fans by being a less arrogant prick. I dont believe he just puts on an act for the camera. I wouldnt pay to watch him lose. But id pay to watch Hatton fight because i like him and his style.Comment

Drifting off the subject i think you are. I dont think PBF is great at trash talk. He dont say anything to his opponents i couldnt say if i wanted to. Hatton could take the mantle of best trash talker if he wanted to, i bet. But he dont want to.You said that he was "crappy" at it. And you said he was effective.
You are drawing a line between "aesthetics" and "effectiveness" where there CAN'T be one.
Hatton did not fight a "pretty" fight vs. Tszyu. It was ugly and dirty. And repetitive. But it was effective. Did Hatton fight a crappy fight?
Feel me?
PBF talks a load of rubbish but does it actually help him when his opponents get in the ring is the question. DLH lost to PBF and he would probably have lost if PBF was as quiet as a mouse before the fight as well. So what do you mean he is an effective trash talker. How do you gauge it?
Yep PBF will still be pretty i guess, depending if he is your type though really. I think DLH is a bit better looking. But those body punches from Hatton wont effect PBFs facial features. When PBF is writheing in agony on the canvas he will still be quite pretty. The same ole Hugh I see. No matter what Hatton does he ain't gon have a chance in hell. Hatton is an above avergae tough guy with well below average boxing skills. He would be better suited in the UFC, just face it Hugh. Cause come Dec 8th, a boxing massacre will occur and the pretty will stay pretty!Comment

You are either
a) A highly educated mental health or psychoanalytical professional with Hannibal Lecter-like skills who has reviewed dossiers on Delahoya, Hatton and Mayweather or has spoken with them. In which case, we are all grateful for the free profiling work.
-or-
b) Someone with limited-to-no psychiatric training and has had no conversations with these fighters...and is therefore spectacularly unqualified to make the assessments that he did. And, accordingly, merits no credibility in these matters.
I will assume it's "A". So, thank you.Comment
