Would Frank Bruno have been a better fighter had he spent his entire career in the U.S. I think he would have done, because Frank's biggest problem was the way he trained, constantly lifting the weight's. Had he trained in america I feel they wouldn't have let him do this, and would have benefitted from this. Bruno wasn't a bad fighter, good heavy snapping jab, cracking overhand right, could take a punch. Every time he was stopped it was due to tiredness, he couldn't keep up those big heavy arms, was always stopped on his feet after taking lots of punches clean on the chin. I think had he trained in america he would have been fitter, had better stamina and would have been quicker as well. It wouldn't have made him a great, but I feel he would have been so much better and acheived more in the game. Any thought's on this.
Bruno - Better if he spent all his time in U.S

Bruno would have been a better fighter had he had better training early on, bruno had a good jab and excellent power but he did have poor stamina possibly due to being over muscled. another problem with bruno was not holding on when hurt. if he had got rid of those problems early on he would have beat bonecrusher and Tim Witherspoon. although i thought he did improve under George Francis.Would Frank Bruno have been a better fighter had he spent his entire career in the U.S. I think he would have done, because Frank's biggest problem was the way he trained, constantly lifting the weight's. WHERE he trained would have made no difference.. HOW he trained is what is Important.. As you mentioned.. He was TOO concerned with Strength and Not enough with Stamina..Would Frank Bruno have been a better fighter had he spent his entire career in the U.S. I think he would have done, because Frank's biggest problem was the way he trained, constantly lifting the weight's. Hatton and Calzaghe Train in the UK.. and their staminas are fine..
Zab Judah and Sam Peter train in the US.. and we have seen what GREAT staminas they have..
although Peter seemed improved a little in his last fight..

Where did you read that he overtrained with weights? When i read his autobiography i pretty much got the picture that he was a natural muscular giant. Although he does admit he was obsessed with sculpting his body, but only said this was shown through thousands of sit-ups and press ups.
You gotta source?Comment

I think Bruno's main problems were his glass chin and his mental weakness.
He could throw a punch but not take one. And we all know he went mental recently, but you could see he wasn't mentally strong before his fights with Tyson.
I think he did the best he could and has forged a rather successful post boxing career in panto.Comment

Bruno didn't have a 'glass' chin. That would signify that he was susceptable to one-punch K.O's for the majority of his career. Brunos problem was that he would become stunned - giving him his credit, he hardly ever fell straight on his arse. But he would stick his chin in the air. Bruno could be dead and still on his feet waddling about. His 1st reaction would be to show he wasn't hurt, when it was very noticible he was.
As for the "mental weakness" what a load of bull****, he never ever looked more or less scared than any fighter then or today. Agreed - he was scared before he went into the ring with Tyson - but for ****s sake, he knew he was a lamb to the slaughter, but still went in there and **** Iron Mike up.Comment

Ok so you're saying Bruno had a solid chin and was mentally strong. I think you're clearly wrong on both accounts. Or taking the piss.Bruno didn't have a 'glass' chin. If you're knocked out from a punch on the chin - I don't think it matters whether you're stood up or not - you have a glass chin. Therefore Bruno had a glass chin.
And as for his mental frailty. I remember seeing a program on him after he got sectioned with his family and trainers / promoters etc. who said Bruno's biggest problem was between his ears. He wasn't strong enough mentally when he was in or out of the ring.
I like Bruno and have met him a few times. But he is mentalComment

so...if you get knocked out, you have a glass chin? What kind of bull**** reasoning is that? I'm not saying Bruno never got knocked out! But its not as if he had a glass jaw - yes he was viable to be knocked out...but not extraordinarily so.
I'm not even discussing this with you, your not even Tony Booth.Comment
