Now that the thread as spotlighted PBF......

PBF, as mentioned before - had to fight Gatti to get his biggest payday of his career (up to that time) even though he was leagues better than Gatti. After that, he became "infamous" and more popular than ever at the expense of stomping on Gatti like a floor mat.

First, they put Gatti in with PBF so that Gatti can get the biggest payday, and the only PPV, of Arturo's career. Not to get PBF more attention. Be real.

So, If PBF's next three fights are against guys you never heard of, then you are cool with that. Right? We could just milk the PBF cash cow now that he is a big name.
Gatti was a big name not one of the greatest fighters so don't compare Gatti and pbf in that respect! Gatti wanted PBF not his team according to Jim Lampley, that fight was a measuring stick fight for Gatti nothing else! Really Gatti should fight fighters around his skill level he could beat it bring positive attention to boxing, while PBF does the same thing he CAN beat the best out there and there for is fighting top/higher level fighters... don't compare the two it's like Jason Kidd and Tyrone Lue

Previously, guys would have to go to Oscar for the big check. And PBF still had to fight Oscar to get to that "next level".
i cant find the site right now but i did read that Gatti had made over 30 million dollars his whole career and most of it was from fighting DLH

Gatti typically makes 1.5 to 2 mil per fight. That is his "rate". It is fairly predictable because he fights at Boardwalk Hall so much, and it generally sells out.

For PBF, that was Gatti's first PPV. He made over $4 mil. He WOULD have made more for ODLH, but that was a WCB fight, not a PPV fight.

Nice line !! But Lue's my boy. I remember when the Lakers & Sixers were in the Finals. They were saying that Lue can hold Iverson. So Allen goes out and busts him up.

Admittedly, I am very interested in the business side of the sport. I pay alot of attention to the economics. Because I have realized that the PRIMARY reason why fights do and/or do not happen is because of the financial structures.

If you feel that I do not know what I'm talking about, i would encourage you to ignore my posts.

Side note: It IS our money. Who do you think is paying these guys?

Gatti made a million or two for fighting Oscar.
