I've been watching Cintron way back when he was just starting. I don't follow every boxers career, but those I do I tend to develope a loyalty towards them. His KO ratio is insane and he's a rather decent person to say the least. He lost his both of his parents and rather than sell drugs in the street he decided to do something positive with his life. Plus he started a fund for cancer. People are raggin him cause of his loss to Margarito and the break down he had. If 10 percent of the things I've heard about his problems before the Margarito fight are true I could see him breaking down. I'd say he's got one chance to redeem himself and that time is now. If vitali could redeem himself from his humiliating loss then so can Cintron.

In short, I think people are backing Cintron because he just snapped the neck and nearly decapitated a previously rugged guy with a great chin (Matthyse) who Paul Williams couldn't dispose of for 10 rounds.

Cintron's right hand is scary, it's on the level with Tommy Hearns' right hand in that even if it is blocked it's going to do some damage. You block a punch like that and you at the very least get a face full of your own leather if you don't slip it altogether or parry it cleanly. That guy is going to give anybody at 147 problems now that he's got the best trainer in boxing supporting him.

I agree it's a bit premature to call him a top contender but with Steward in his corner and his amazing ability to hit with power you can't blame people for being excited about him.
I agree with Steward as his trainer he's become a better fighter so far. You know he's getting great instruction and to go along with his talent and punching power it makes him dangerous. We'll see for real when he faces a top notch opponent.

Can't wait to watch Margarito make Cintron cry again. Cintron is in no hurry for the rematch apparently.

theres no money there with a margarito fight.
i believe him when he said he had an off night against margarito.
i got the dvd of the cintron/matthysse fight. man the way he won is brutally awesome.
this guy would give most of the top welters a run for it even at this stage of his game. more so down the road. he's still learning.
cintron has a stay busy fight on sept.8 against jesse feliciano.
