am i late? when was the fight decided? i didnt think mayweather wanted anything to do with cotto because he wouldnt bring in enough money???

if it was decided do you have a link?

if he is fighting cotto i think its a bad decision to decide who to fight next when he still has hatton to think about.

if they did fight i'd anticipate a good close fight. cotto's chin is questionable BUT i dont think mayweather could knock him out, despite his KO to win ratio i dont think of mayweather as a serious powerpuncher.

All joking aside, I think Cotto is the second biggest threat to Mayweather. The first is Mosley.. If Cotto beats Mosley, I think he deserves a shot @ Mayweather. Cotto has a good chance of winning the fight in my eyes if he stays active with his style and body punches. His defense isn't great but Mayweather left his power when he entered the welterweight devision, so I doubt it would do much to the bigger Cotto. If Mayweather were to brake one of his hands in the fight, he would be ****ed.

Mayweather punishes you when you try to dig to his body. He is faster then Cotto and could get off and out before he has a chance to land.. But then again Oscar is slow now too and that was a pretty close fight... Mayweather would have to throw more then his 15 punches a round. I dunno I see it as a split decision win for Cotto.

I agree. Cotto will rough up Floyd to the body or somewhere in the fight. I know Floyd would win but its not a fight he can come out and look pretty in or untouched.

I agree in saying cotto has a pretty good chance with mayweather. i like hatton's chances better only because of his technical boxing skills and speed. i think hatton could match mayweather in technical skills and speed where cotto cant...only big advantages for cotto over mayweather is POWER...STAMINA (he wont tire like mosley or de la hoya would)...and BODY PUNCHING ABILITY (cotto is definately known for his body punching)...and he can brawl where mayweather wont stand a chance brawling against cotto.

cotto's chin is questionable (as i said before) but not to the point where he could be in serious trouble.

if they fight cotto doesnt want it to take place in the middle of the ring...he wants to back floyd up, get him off balance going into the ropes and **** away to the body. if cotto can do this early enough in the end mayweather's speed wont be as much of a factor (he'll still be faster though).

if cotto can catch him with a good liver shot we might see mayweather finally lose...not by KO...but it will suck the energy out of floyd thus making the fight easier for cotto.

Floyd would win but its not a fight he can come out and look pretty in.

            no more pretty boy...lol

on a more serious note though i agree. if floyd wins he's still going to look like he just got out of a heavyweight title fight because thats the types of fights cotto likes to have...ones where he can rough you up the whole fight...

remember guys...cotto is undefeated too...so that says something about him right? he's not exactly a bum you know?

Look at the tapes guys, when Mayweather fights guys his own size he's exciting cause he doesnt have to worry about getting outmuscled on the inside, or for whatever reason.

Cotto-Mayweather has some FOTY potential IMO

I go back and forth on this really.. Haven't made my mind up definitely yet, I'm sure after watching how Mayweather v. Hatton and seeing how well Cotto does against Mosley, I'll have a better picture and make my mind up for sure.

I don't really think Cotto is small enough for a toe-to-toe battle for Mayweather. I think whether he fights toe-to-toe with Cotto is dependent on how fast he thinks Cotto is, because Arturo Gatti was certainly the bigger man when he fought Mayweather that night. The difference was that Mayweather knew Gatti was too slow to stick leather on him frequently, so he could stand in front and brutalize him.

FOTY potential? With Mayweather? Never. He won't fight toe-to-toe unless he knows he is going to beat the **** out of whoever he is facing, and one-sided beatdowns are not FOTY material. If he thinks it will be a close fight, he will box and move, which also kills the possibility of FOTY potential.

                    Cotto comes in @160~
                    PBF comes in @150~

PBF has to worry about Cotto's size and power and to make things less interesting Cotto is slow, no FOTY here.

The only FOTY candidate with PBF in are Hatton and maybe Mosley (maybe because he is 36 and I have my doubts on Mosley).
