Oh no, guys! Erik lost to Manny in the second time because of lack of stamina. He was in thin but clear control in the 1st half of that fight. After that Manny was the same but Erik slightly faded and that was the reason. In the 3rd fight Pacquiao was out of shape but Erik was like a walking dead. Morales battled Zahir to draw: no way he lost.
And if he would been slightly better conditioned less brave and judged correctly he could have only two losses to Barrera. So there wouldn't been any reason to not be sure in his greatness. Atlas is a great specialist, knows boxing near perfectly and that's why he has a right to do little mistakes. And please don't forget, gladiator is a dimension of heart, not skill.

Some of the criticism Morales has been getting is ****ing ridiculous.

He beat TWO hall of fame fighters in their prime. He beat another HOF for his first championship. He als beat many other good fighters in higher divisions, and he arguably won belts in four different weight classes. C+ fighter? I cant believe how ignorant people are. He is an A fighter, and a first ballot hall of famer. Just because Atlas doesnt think he belongs at the top doesnt mean anything.

To compare him to Gatti and Ward is ******. Seriously you should be embarrassed.

He's a great fighter but no way did he draw with Raheem. He got schooled.

Yeah I love Morales but Zahir Raheem gave him a masterful boxing lesson. I don't see how anyone could've given Morales more than 2 rounds tops, if that.

And Vazquez's left hook is probably the hardest punch in the division, and Marquez has bombs in both hands.

The power and skill in both those guys is outstanding.

and that last statement is just rediculous IMO. as great as MAB and EM are, we are talking about two more great fighters in RM and IV. i would pick EM and MAB over both of them probably, but we are talking great fights that end in close decisions IMO. MAYBE Em stops Marquez, but thats a maybe
I totally agree with you, the Morales Barrera fight was great but the connection in those fights doesn't begin to compare with that of Vazquez and Marquez. Skill-wise I also think that these guys are at least comporable to Barrera and Morales but they just need a couple more marquee fights. Ive never respected Atlas' opinion that much anyway, but him degrading morales' status like that makes me think even less of him, the only guys in his time who have resumes to rival him are Pacquiao and Barrera, and only by a nose.

Let me see how many great fighters i can list, that were victims of Erik Morales

              Manny Pacquiao
              Marco Antonio Barrera
              Paulie Ayala
              Junior Jones
              Daniel Zaragoza
              ummmm, Kevin Kelly... Jesus Chavez...

Erik Morales was a Great fighter.

I agreed with Teddy that he doesnt belong up there with the Mexican greats, but it takes an A++++++++++++++ fighter to be even mentioned up there.

Mexico has produced legends, like Chavez and Sanchez, who are both some of the greatest fighters of all time!

Thats like saying is Erik Morales an all time great? no. But was he a great fighter? absoluetly. C+?!?!?!?! get that **** outta here

i was never really a fan of Erik's but i liked him more then marco. lol but yeah, thats what im sayin, he fought some of the biggest names in his division, and won. you do that much in your career and get a C+? i guess that means you gotta be ****in batman to get an A+

Atlas was being asked by the studio commentator, i think his last name was Diaz, about Erik Morales's career and if he belonged w/ the other Mexican greats like Chavez, Sal Sanchez, and Ruben Olivares. Atlas said no and kept repeating the word "Gladiator" . Bottomline, Morales was a blood and guts warrior but nothing exceptional. EM was a 3 time champ in 3 weight classes against mostly D+, C level competition.

Before y'all respond to me w/ hate. Don't hate me, hate T. Atlas. He was the one that didn't want to include EM w/ Mexico's all-time greats and just kept referring to EM as a "Gladiator".

Basically, EM belongs more on the level of GATTI and Ward.
