    A Question regarding holding

I know that holding is illegal according to boxing rules, and there are a few fighters and even champs that hold excessively. How would you feel if they srated DQ'ing boxers for excessive holding, or better yet if a champ lost his belt follwing a DQ for excessive holding?

I think it would be a sad day in British fight fan's hearts, as Hatton would be banned form the sport.

It would also be a sad day for me because then my man Hopkins would have to rely on his technical skill even more, something I doubt he has anymore at age 42.

Also, Ali would have been DQ'd in all 3 fights with Frazier....among others...

Pfff Ali would have been DQ'd in dozens of fights.

He was the king of holding behind the head to wear someone out. That tactic is immediately broken up by refs now though. He used to do it way too much.

I think excessive holding should be penalized as most rule infractions, warnings and then deductions, The hopkins-wright fight would have been completly different if the ref had started taking points away midfight. We would have see some more punches.

I like them to have a rule that a ref can warn a fighter 2x for holding, if there is a 3rd warning, then a dedcution of 1 point.

Its only a foul when the other fighter is trying to punch out of the clinch, you very rarely see this.

I thought they do dock points for excessive clinching? I could swear i've seen that happen before.
