    They do. I've seen fighters be DQ'd for excessive holding. For some reason it is rarely enforced, but it is every now and then. I believe I recall this happening early in Tyson's career to one of his opponents if anyone cares to look up the specifics.

    I agree that it should be enforced a little more than it is these days though. I don't think it is a huge problem, but sometimes like in the aforementioned Hopkins and Hatton fights and those like them (Ruiz, anyone)... well, it gets old.

        I just know I usually go to sleep on fights when the guy does a lot of holding or ducking into the opponent which initiates the holding. I just think boxing would be more exciting if less boxers held and visibily ran from there opponents... It's like did you come to fight or just do whatever it takes not to get knocked out...? Or better yet i'm going to hold you, so you can stop moving long enough for me to knock you out...

          the thing to me about holding is, you have to let the person hold you. i have fought before, and if i didnt want to be held i simply couldnt be
